Need recommendation for a tailor on or near the UWS of Manhattan, NYC . Standard stuff, mostly altering off the rack shirts, pants, and jackets, nothing too extreme but should be familiar with vintage and custom-mades. Would prefer quality over speed or cost.

Heading up to Shelter Island NY for a weekend soon from North Jersey. Leaving 6am on a Friday. I will be with my wife and toddler. Any suggestions for stops/attractions/restaurants along the way? I suspect my toddler will need a break after 2 hours on a 4+ hour drive. Also any comments on traffic and directions would be helpful! thanks!

I'm going on a trip to New York in the middle of July, and I'd like to have a meal at one of the fancier restaurants in the city -- say, Eleven Madison Park or Jean Georges. Unfortunately, I didn't plan things out very far in advance, so I don't have a reservation. What should I do to maximize my chances of getting a seat?

I'm planning on visiting the East Coast this July -- the area roughly from Boston to Washington, DC. I don't really have a set plan yet, aside from visiting NYC for a couple of days (up to a week), hopefully visiting Boston for a few days, and hanging out along the Maryland/DC border for a conference. Travel tips/suggestions?

I'm trying to figure out where I should establish residency. I'm currently a NJ resident because I lived in a co-op apartment that I own there for about 5 years; I have been renting it out for about 2 years now. My current official mailing address is still in NJ (at a UPS store, so it just looks like a regular address). For the past year-ish, I've lived in CT in a house my father owns. Going forward, I will be living half of the time with my fiancee in Brooklyn and the other half here in CT. So, where is the best place for me to establish residency?

Anyone had any issues living in the US but flying internationally out of Canada? We (English green-card holder me + US citizen wife) live in far upstate NY and it seems that flying to London and back out of Ottawa using Air Transat is the cheapest and quickest way. Are there any pitfalls I'm unaware of? Any craziness with border control between the US and Canada if you tell the that's what you're doing? Thanks.

I am going on a road trip next week that will include Ithaca, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and points in between. I'd love some suggestions of fun, amazing, quirky, or air conditioned things to do along the way. We'll be coordinating rest stops so any 'in between' suggestions would be especially appreciated. Moderately physically active OK, strenuous not so much. Trip includes very small children.

I have an approximate budget of 10 dollars per print I'd like to hew closely to and a number of quality and care requirements.

(Or take a train if the place is really acessable). A very nice hotel in the country would be great, we don't need a bunch of outside entertainment - beautiful scenery a plus. We're looking to leave late Thursday or early Friday and return early/mid-Monday.

I have a couple of days in NYC to find some provisions for an upcoming trip. They are simple items, but I'm getting them for my boyfriend, and don't know where to shop for a male. Also, I am somewhat agoraphobic and running around to several stores throughout the city is truthfully agonizing for me. I just want an XXL size simple zip-up black hoodie sweatshirt, some black long-sleeved t-shirts, an army-ish coat, and a fairly cheap sleeping bag.

Wifey and I are on vacation. We’re currently in White River Junction, Vermont and heading towards western New York. We’d like to spend a night in a town or city that has a vibrant downtown with some interesting shops, restaurants, museums or other attractions. Saratoga is a good example of the kind of place we’d like to visit, but we’ve recently been there. Any suggestions? It doesn’t have to be directly on our route but we don’t have time for a huge detour.
