I want to play old school videogames (Atari 2600, NES, SNES) with my kids. I have a Wii right now with Homebrew Channel and a handful of Virtual Console games, but the controller feels clunky with NES games and it is not very easy to do SNES or 2600 games. I have read about Ouya at various places and it looks like a pretty smooth system. For those who have an Ouya - is it very easy to load emulators and ROMS? Do they play naturally? [more inside]

My favorite NES emulator is NESten
because it has an amazing "cheat finder". I loved finding cheats for old games but I only have a Mac now. If anyone is familiar with the cheat finder in NESten can you recommend a similar emulator for Mac os? [more inside]

I know that some fairly recent video games, at least as recent as Ocarina of Time, have moments where characters (or physical signposts) inside of the game talk about the buttons that the player has to hit. I have a vague memory of this occurring in much older games, maybe characters in NES games saying "make sure you equip your weapon on the start menu" or things like that , but I can't locate them. Can anyone verify times where this happens?

Recent switcher with iMac Intel Core Duo (purchased new in August). I have been trying to get some emulators up and running, but have really run into difficulties. I was able to accomplish this years ago on the PC, but the Mac hasn't proven as easy as I thought. [more inside]

I'm considering writing a book about game systems in the 80's and would like to be able to include screenshots of many of the games. What do I need to do to be able to include those screenshots without being sued? Does this fall under the copyright law's "fair use"? Does the fact that they are older games make any difference? Apologies if this has been asked before - I couldn't find anything related to publishing game screenshots.

I have a pretty substantial collection of old Nintendo and Super Nintendo games (100+). I realize that at some point either all that silicon or whatever inside is going to rot away, or the batteries inside will die.
How can I either prolong the cartridge life or halt this terrible procession? Cold Storage? Some sort of Vacuum? Are new batteries available for NES or SNES games? It would pain me so to see my precious Earthbound be reduced to nothing.
