What are some good 70's and 80's songs suitable for playing in a pharmacy? My father owns a family pharmacy and we have an iPod with nice 70's and 80's songs set to play for the customers. Can you tell me some that I can add to the playlist? Remember nice calm easy listening ones are best, and no dirty or bad songs about dying etc.. To get an idea of some of the songs I have here's a link to the playlist so far. Specific songs are great, but I will also take artists. Try not to give duplicates. If 10 people give 10 songs that's 100 new songs! Thanks!

Hopefully this won't be too obscure... There was a pretty popular Japanese rock band that had a song which was basically a rocked out heavy metal version of Dies Irae from Verdi's requiem. I think the CD is from the early 90's or so. What's the name of the band? (and no, it's not from the Battle Royale soundtrack. That was a purely orchestral version)

What do the tracks "Cells" by The Servant, "Death of a Party" by Blur, and "Kashmir" by Led Zepplin have in common? I think they have a common strand of... something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm sure somebody out there is adept enough at music to inform me. "Nightendday" by Pelican has this too, come to think of it, whatever "it" is. I think it has something to do with the use of bass guitars.

DissectingArtFilter: I'd like to start to understand how certain (in my eyes, fantastic) lyrics are devised. Specifically, Stephen Malkmus's lyrics, as a part of Pavement. For instance, Gold Soundz. I can pick out some slant rhymes, and certain other techniques but can't figure out how they work in the context of the entire piece. I know that melody plays a huge role in making the song what it is, but sort of focusing on the lyrics part - any words of wisdom. (and yes, I'm possibly writing lyrics for my band at some point)

About five years ago I stumbled across a website that contained a terrific "map" of the various Olympia-based post-grunge indie rock bands (such as Sleater-Kinney,Cadallaca, The Softies, Quasi, Sarah Dougher), and the interrelations between them (for instance Sarah Dougher has been a vocalist for both Cadallaca and the Crabs; Corin Tucker is a member of Sleater-Kinney and was also in Cadallaca with Sarah Dougher"). But now, for the life of me, I can't find that site, despite using all of my google-hacking skills. Does anyone else know where that page, or a page like it is?

Does anyone remember the PBS series "On Tour?" It was on late Saturday nights when I was in high school, and I remember it being sponsored by IBM. Each 60-minute program was composed entirely of different rock bands doing live performances (usually at very large venues). It was usually one or two songs per band. There was an occasional interview with a roadie, but otherwise it was all music. The show's page has been "retired" from PBS.org. Did these shows ever get put on VHS or DVD?
