I'm working on a project that requires at least 3 or 4 full days attention each week. What are some places in the US or world I could move to, &/or unusual living situations, that would give me a good chance of doing this? [more inside]

I’m taking a one-week vacation in Montreal this May and I want to travel light by bringing four days’ worth of clothes with me instead of seven. So I’m looking for a recommendation for a laundry where I can drop off a few days’ worth of dirty clothes in the morning and pick them up clean later that same day. [more inside]

Should we go to Montreal during the Jazz Festival? Or will it be "too crowded" if we're not super-into jazz? [more inside]

We're thinking about driving up to Montreal for a 4-day weekend next week -- 2 adults and a 7-year-old girl. There hasn't been a "what to see and do" post about Montreal here since 2005, so tell me what's to see and do these days with a focus on family fun. [more inside]

The S.O. wants to go away for a weekend to Montreal. I'm pretty much sold on the idea except for one glaring issue - how are we getting there? Point of origin would preferably be in Connecticut. [more inside]

I live in New Zealand. In general I have no desire whatsoever to visit North America, except... for some reason I have a hankering to see Montreal. Why should I? (I blame Mordecai Richler.)

My partner and I are going to Montreal for a week and we are on a very limited budget. We are looking at staying with people via hospitality exchange rather than in hotels or hostels. Specifically, I've been looking at www.hospitalityclub.com . I was wondering if anyone has done this sort of thing and what your experiences were. What questions do I ask when I'm talking with someone I might stay with? What should I look out for?
On another note, ideas for cheap fun in Montreal would also be welcome. We are twenty-something lesbians from small town Alberta.

Dearest AskMe, my boyfriend and I are going to Montreal for a weekend. We would like to explore Old Montreal, laugh at the penguins in the BioDome, and find fun little shops, restaurants, and interesting attractions. Also: good places for drinking without having to yell over la musique? Please advise us, lest we foolishly miss all the best parts! Merci!
