Do I need to refinance or is my bank just suggesting this because they are trying to help me?

I have inherited a house in Massachusetts that has a mortgage. I am the executor and also one of the beneficiaries. The other beneficiary and I want to assume ownership of the house together. I contacted the bank that holds the mortgage and they suggested that I refinance. I'd prefer not to. I'm not sure if I have to. Do I have options? I have a lawyer and a banker but I'd like advice on how to approach this inheritance issue before I talk to them more about this. [more inside]

Will helping him raise his credit score lower my credit score?

Posting for a friend: I added my then-fiance's name as an authorized user of one of my credit cards a few years ago. We've broken up but still own a house together, and we need to refinance it. He has been told that it will help if he can raise his credit score, in part by having me take his name off that credit card. Would that lower my (good) credit score and affect our refinancing if that credit/debt is all mine?

Is the money supply contracting, or expanding?

FinanceFilter: Is the money supply contracting, or expanding, after netting all the Fed action, bank closures, mortgage defaults, etc? The dollar falling seems to signal a net increase of money supply, but this is inconsistent with the thesis of a credit or liquidity crunch. If the money supply is growing at a slower rate due to tighter lending practices, shouldn't the dollar be rising, even in the face of Fed-rate cutting? Do we know the net expansion or contraction of the money supply due to the combination of rate cuts and mortgage defaults? [more inside]

Refinancing my home, but it's appraised too low.

Trying to Refinance my home (& consolidate some bills). 1 year ago it was appraised at $410k. In the middle of this process, my lender indicated that 2 different appraisers indicated that it's only worth $350k compare to other similar homes in my area... although they haven't come out to do the appraisal yet. I'm concerned that because this is what they believe the value to be, it will be that or close to it. In order for me to do what I need to do (with my bills), I need the value of my home to be at $410. What can/should I do? [more inside]
