Can you help me view and print background colors in Word? I'm trying to reproduce a form that has a purple background. This form will be completed on screen, but may also be printed. For reasons that we won't go into, it has to be in Word. I'm having trouble getting a purple background that shows up when viewing it on the screen and also when printing. Is there a way to get both? Is it possible to export pictures from Microsoft Word documents? I need to re-color a graphic that's been inserted into a Microsoft Word 2003 document. Unfortunately, that is the only copy I have of the graphic. Word doesn't seem to provide a way to color over graphics. Even getting it into Paint would work fine--but first I need to get it there. Am I screwed?

Microsoft Word, basic question: I'd like to have the title on my Word document show up automatically/repeat on each new page that I type so I don't have to add it and center it each time. I'm sure it's easy but I honestly don't know how to do this and have searched to no avail. Any help?

I'm asking on behalf of a fellow law student who is having a big, fat laptop problem as we fast approach the zero our for our finals.
She copies some lines of text in Microsoft Word. When she pastes them, Word pastes literally a thousand pages of the same lines of text into the document. This isn't happening in any other programs, but her computer does seem to be running pretty hot for no reason that we can discern. What the hell is going on? [more inside]

Some of my MS Word docs (Microsoft Word 2003, Windows XP) have been through many hands and have many styles defined. Lots of these styles are garbage. Other than doing it manually (stepping through all of the styles one by one, checking whether each style is in use, and then deleting the styles I don't need), is there a way to remove all styles that are not used in a document?

Does anyone know of an application that does word counts for Microsoft Word files without actually having to open up Word? I'm thinking of a handy right-click menu in Windows Explorer for example that also allows you to select multiple files and get a total word count. Many thanks in advance.

Ack! Why does Microsoft Word move a footnote to the page following the page where the footnote is inserted (e.g. footnote reference in text is on p.14, footnote itself appears on p. 15)? Or spread the footnote across the bottom of two successive pages? It's nothing to do with (a) inserting the footnote ref near the bottom of the page, or (b) having large amounts of existing footnote text on that page. There's plenty of room for the footnote, it just goes on the next page. Thanks!
