If I adopt a cat that has an implanted microchip directly from the current owner, how do I get the name and address in the registration database updated to reflect me as the new owner? [more inside]

Is there a cat flap and/or cat door that works with 10 digit microchips? There is one available in Europe that only reads 15 digit microchips--most microchips in the U.S. are only 10 digits. Are we yankees to go without our RFID cat flaps? [more inside]

My US-born dog has a non-ISO compliant microchip (24pethealth). She's just moved to the UK. If she gets lost there, will the RSPCA etc be able to read her chip, or should we get her a new one? If we need a new one, what happens to the old one? Will this cause complications & confusion? [more inside]

My cat needs a microchip ID implant in order to enter Japan with me. Japan (and most of the world) uses ISO-standard microchips, but the de-facto standard in the U.S. is incompatible. The main supplier of U.S. pet microchips has gone so far as to sue companies who try to sell world compatible chips to the U.S. Does anybody know how to get an ISO-standard chip for my cat in the U.S.?
