MiamiFilter: At the end of May, as part of a longer trip, I will be spending a couple of days in Miami, I will be staying at a hostel in Miami Beach. This is my first hostelling experience and I am a bit concerned about theft of my belongings since one of the hostel reviews I've read indicate there may not always be enough lockers for all the guests (I chose it for location and social aspects). I will also have to park a rental car, probably in a municipal parking garage. Is it safe to leave some clothes/stuff in the car? How big is car crime in this area? Finally, I've read various tips online about how to survive the hostel experience, but any specific tips applicable to Miami would be appreciated.

Looking for a not too expensive (hopefully under $100) place to stay in Miami for one night. I have an overnight layover in Miami coming up. I'm getting in at night and am leaving early the next morning, won't have a car, and am hoping to find a decent/cheap place to stay that is walking distance (or a short cab ride) to places to get some food and drinks. I am contemplating moving (I live in Wynwood, and like it) nearer to where I go to school/work (hospital district/the gables). How is living in allapattah or downtown miami? i'm used to living in working class areas and can handle myself, but am not sure if crime is bad there?
Is anything open downtown after like 6? What about community spaces, bars, restaurants, cafes, etc? My girlfriend is asian, and I know there's no neighborhoods with many asians around, but is downtown homogeneously latin or is it more diverse?

I'm headed to the north Miami area for a long weekend, and I'm looking for fun, cheap things to do. I've been down there quite a few times, and have a family member in the area who I'll be visiting, so I'm looking for your best suggestions of the things that people never actually get around to seeing when they live in the area but that are worth playing tourist to go see. I'll have some free time (a week) after Labor Day (Sept. 1). I really really like Miami Beach; I have been there several times in the winter and once in early July. Will hurricane season make a short trip right after Labor Day this year a nightmare? I don't mind really hot/humid weather I do mind hurricanes... Even if the weather is O.K., will South Beach be dead anyway? I can't go earlier than that, and I can't go later. Personal experiences of Miami Beach in September and good weather resources welcome. Thanks!!!

I'm spending next week in Ft. Lauderdale, and plan on going to see a Marlins game sometime during the week. I'd prefer to take some sort of public transit to the stadium, but the Marlin's site doesn't mention anything about it. Is there some relatively safe/reliable way to get there without having to drive myself? If so, where's the best place to park to get on the transit? My big reason to want to go this way is to avoid stadium traffic, so I'd like to catch a bus or whatever far enough from the stadium so as to avoid that.

Anybody have good recomendations on eating and nightlife in South Beach? Primarily interested in ceviche, cuban food, seafood, lighter fare, not really interested in Italian or big heavy meals. We have a reservation at Talula, thinking about Ola and would like to know about some of the newer places. Price does not matter. Nightlife we like loungey chill places, maybe a club one night if its worth it, not interested in sports bars, etc. Any other tips appreciated. We will be in town from a Thursday to Sunday.

Miami Filter: Group dinner suggestions: Bringing a large group (45) of 20 somethings to South Beach Miami. Is there any thing that would be 20-30 bucks a person that would accomodate a group of that size? Looking for American, or even Cuban food. Even if its a dive, anything comes to mind that we could sort of book a place? Could maybe travel by rented bus to the mainland.

I'm looking for shops in either Miami Beach or New York City where I could find interesting handmade jewelry. (A slightly random combination of cities, I know--it's just that I'll be in both places on an upcoming trip.) I'm looking for jewelry that is well made but not ultra expensive--which, in my mind, would probably put the price range somewhere between $20 and $100. Any tips for shops in either location?

A friend of mine is looking for a Construction Project Manager job here in Miami, and together we've googled to find what we think are decent job sites (also, we've been to the obvious, monster, careerbuilder, etc.). He's submitted his resume repeatedly but is getting no results and is now considering using a resume delivery service like resumexposure.com. Has anyone had any experience with that specific company or other similar services that they can recommend? Also, aside from networking in person (which is what he says works best in his field) and applying for every job that he can get his hands on, are there any other basic steps he should take?
