Can you recommend an urgent care clinic open on nights or weekends in Seattle? Preferably one somewhere near Fremont that is a Uniform Medical Plan provider. I have no current need—this is for future reference.

General medicine in San Francisco: I'm in need of a basic checkup and a few tests, but the UCSF system is no longer accepting patients. Where else can I see a doctor and have any necessary tests done in the same place? I've a PPO inaurance plan, so I believe I can go anywhere but Kaiser. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I don't understand why health care suddenly costs so damn much. I can understand a few factors - nurses' pay has gone up, new treatments are more expensive (and doctors prescribe more expensive treatments - sometimes unnecissarily) but these factors don't seem to explain how insanely costly health care has become. And where is all that money going? Again, I understand that CEO pay has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, but is that enough to explain the enormous cost of health care these days? [more inside]

What treatments/procedures/personnel can you decline in the hospital? I know that I have the legal right to decline anything, but does the hospital have to continue to serve me if I do? Does it matter if I do or don't have a regular doctor affiliated with the hospital? Does it matter if its an emergency or not? [more inside]

ObscureTVFilter: Help me remember the name of this strange medical reality TV show from my childhood. It aired on American television either in the late 1980s or early 90s, and followed clinic patients into an exam room to record their interactions with the doctor and his ultimate diagnosis. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow about quitting smoking. I have tried quitting so many times I can no longer keep count. But nicotine has this tremendous hold on me. I have smoked for almost four years and would like to see my 29th birthday as a turning point. What questions should I be asking my doctor and what questions should I be prepared to answer?

I'm a 25 year old fella looking for a good general practitioner in Austin. "Good" doesn't mean someone who will medicate me with whatever I want and send me on my way, but someone who pays attention to his patients and their needs. Preferably north, but it's not a deal breaker. I'll mostly be going for chronic headaches, if that makes any difference either. Suggestions?

Will the Korean doctor rob me blind?? Here's the long and short of it... my father is the doctor that pioneered tumescent liposuction. he teaches his techniques to other doctors on a regular basis and manufactures the tools and equipment involved with the procedure.
Recently, a doctor from Korea, I'll call him Dr. Lee, took my father's course and liked it so much that he expressed an interest in teaching the course in Korea and to sell my fathers products in his courses. My father is very interested, but feels concerned that he must submit all of his technical files to Dr. Lee so that he can submit them in an application to the Korean FDA for approval. [more inside]

I'm a male in my mid-twenties, active, and have been for the most part healthy. A few months ago I started getting some strange symptoms, and pain in one of my testicles. I was uninsured so I went to the doctor anonymously and paid cash. His thoughts were it was probably just a standard infection, and gave me some antibiotics and told me to come back if the pain persisted. Around that time I also went to an anonymous city clinic to see if it could be an STD and everything up until then checked out OK. There was a test *Syphilis that I hadn't called back on for results, I did so today and they said the test was negative as well, but there was "something else was going on".. Apparently, the second part of the Syphilis test showed them this. I also asked again about the STD related stuff and they said all that was fine. [more inside]
