iwait or ibuy

New imacs weren't announced today at MacWorld. Will the wait be quite a long time for the next round? Originally, I was going to purchase a new 24" imac a few weeks ago until someone told me to wait for MacWorld in January because suspicions were strong that new imacs would be announced. Well it seems as though that the rumors were false. Should I go ahead and purchase the imac I originally had in mind or do I wait?
I imagine the next round of new products from Apple won't be in a long while and there is still no guarantee that new imacs would be a part of this. Am I correct in thinking I should just buy now or will I be sorry later on down the line in a month or two?

When can we expect new MacBook Pros?

I've been planning an upgrade to a MacBook Pro for a few months, but had been waiting for MacWorld, assuming that there would be a hardware revision. Now that the keynote has come and gone, sans even a spec bump, how long can I expect to wait for the next revision? The most obvious possibilities to me:

1) There's no new major hardware revision on the horizon, and all I can expect is a processor bump soon.

2) Apple plans to integrate the multi-touch trackpad and etc. into the rest of the laptop line -- i.e., a major hardware revision -- but those models aren't ready yet.

The latter seems more likely to me, but does that mean I'm faced with waiting for the next keynote before I can finally upgrade to an Intel Mac? (I work in video and do a lot of editing, so neither the regular MacBook nor the Air will suit my needs, as they don't have graphics cards.) I know that trying top predict Apple's release schedules accurately is a fool's game, but I'm hoping there are some folks here with a finger more firmly on the pulse than my own.

Please convince me to throw out my old MacWorld magazine cover CDs. I have 50 to 100 of these CDs, mainly from UK MacWorld but some other UK Mac magazines too. They date from 1994 to 2000, all full to the brim with demos, freeware and shareware that I will never ever look at again. I don't even have a Mac anymore. I desperately want to throw them out, but somehow I keep hanging on to them. I think it's the regret I feel when I hear of 1970's Blue Peter annuals fetching fortunes. Nothing on the internet indicates these CDs have any value, so please convince me to bin them.

Where can I gamble on Macworld announcements?

Where (online) can I gamble on what will be announced at MacWorld tomorrow? I believe bodog previously had odds on the iphone release, but according to this page there currently aren't any Business/Financial betting lines available. Anyone know another site that is currently taking bets?

Should I buy a Mac ahead of MacWorld?

Should I buy a Mac ahead of MacWorld?
Fed up with a lifetime of dying PCs, I am about to make the switch to a MacBook. I can get a friend to bring it to the UK from the US (price difference $1000 - what gives??) next week, but would have to do so before Macworld. Do they normally announce new specs at the show and slash prices on the old computers the day after?

Discounted registration fee for Macworld?

I'm thinking of attending Macworld 2006 but I'm puzzled by the array of available discount codes to use when registering online. Any tips to share about that or about things to do while at Macworld?

No-Regrets iPod

[MacWorldFilter] So, I finally decided to buy a 40 gig iPod after my last posting. However I've now found out that Toshiba have announced a 60 gig drive and are shipping insane numbers of them to Apple. Oh, and now it turns out that MacWorld is happening in Boston next month. My question is: What is the chance that Steve will announce a new iPod at this show? Do you think he will announce the same 4th Gen iPod with a bigger HD or that they'll go for a 5th Gen? If it would be launched, how long would it take to get to market in the USA (and then UK)? I understand that technology always moves on, but the last thing I want to do is buy something and then one month later it gets superceeded by something dramatically better.
