I am looking for an anatomy atlas to use on my Mac (running Mountain Lion) that lets me see the body in 3D, rotate it, peel away layers, and shows as much detail as possible. It must use Latin names. [more inside]

Is there a game like Audiosurf for OS X that doesn't involve shooting stuff? [more inside]
Many years ago, I used to play a game on my elderly Mac called "Enigma", by Freeverse. Not the modern Oxyd clone, but a version of Mastermind, where you had to deduce a pattern of colored dots given a certain number of hints. You put in your guess and pulled a lever; the game would taunt you, make weird comments, or throw a monkey wrench into things and screw up your guesses. The premise of the game was that you were solving the puzzles in order to open a golden briefcase. I never did manage to get the briefcase open--can anyone tell me what was inside? [more inside]
I've finally decided on a tattoo. Yey! I'm trying to put together a mockup on my Mac, but Pages doesn't allow me to any kerning. This makes the text look weirdly spaced. Any suggestions for software on a mac that will allow me to kern? Freely, if possible? [more inside]
My wife is a keyboard player (I play guitar) and we are trying to use our new MacBook Pro for our practice sessions. She got her MIDI keyboard to play through Garageband but wanted better piano sounds, so I bought Mainstage 3 for $30 (after Googling the question). Mainstage 3 has much better sounds like Hammond B3, Rhodes, etc. [more inside]
I want to try the game Card Hunters. It requires port 8080 to run. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to run on my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. [more inside]
Sorry to be asking this question here, I have tried the usual places but no luck. Just bought HP Officejet Pro 8600. I am running OS 10.6.8, ran a software update and installed my drivers online. Set up went well, I can wirelessly send commands to print diagnostic things like cartridge alignment, network status print outs etc. All that stuff works. I am supposedly successfully set up. Documents however do not print and just idle in the print queue. Went through same set up with pc and it works fine. I can't figure out what's blocking me, no error messages, all seems ok except for the silence of the printer. Any ideas?
I recently installed EndNote on my mac and have since been getting an error whenever I open Microsoft Word that says "can't load Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) error". How do I get rid of it? [more inside]
I took a bunch of photos with my iPhone held horizontally, which when imported into iPhoto are now upside down. Last time I did this, and I rotated the photos in iPhoto, the photos then appear upside down when viewing them on the iPhone. Is there any way to get the iPhone to agree with iPhoto on which way is up? Or do I have to create duplicate photos and rotate one so that at least one version is properly viewable on each device? (Also, does anyone have a good trick for remembering what the right position is for the camera eye when holding the iPhone sideways so I don't do this again?)
I'm having a weird problem with Dropbox, and googling is failing me because lots of people can't find their Dropbox files. But I can't find them in a very special and exciting way, involving differences between Finder and the command line. What am I dealing with here? [more inside]
If I've upgraded PHP on my Mac, should I now avoid all OS X Updates? I'm hosting a website on a Mac mini in a datacenter, and some of my software required a newer version of PHP than what's included out-of-the-box in OS X Mountain Lion. I keep getting the notification saying system updates are ready, and restart to install. But I'm scared it's going to overwrite my PHP upgrades and break everything. And it took me an insanely long time to get the PHP upgrade to work properly and play nicely with OS X Server.
I need a cheap, reliable printer with cheap(ish) replacement ink that can print in black even if other colors are out. Mac, if it matters. [more inside]

(Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody MacBook. Currently running Mountain Lion. 2GHz C2D, 2GB 1067 DDR3.) Over the past year or so, it's been slowing down significantly. I'm getting lockups, especially with web browsers (I use Chrome most of the time, Safari on occasion) where I get the pinwheel for quite a while. It takes a decently long time to boot up. And when I open it up, it usually takes a minute or so to fully exit sleep mode and become usable again. [more inside]
I’m looking for a money management app for Mac that also syncs with iPhone. What do you use and why? (I’ve looked here on Metafilter and found little to nothing that’s recent). [more inside]
This question has been asked before, but long enough ago that I'd like to see if things have changed: What's the best screencasting app for the Mac? [more inside]
I have a monitor attached to my iMac, which is running 10.8.4. I use the dock to switch between open windows and programs. Until this morning this was never a problem -- I could leave a pdf open on one screen to refer to, and open Mail on the other screen. This meant I could look at what I was writing about. For years I opened dozens of photos at once in Preview on the Mac, cropped them all, and hit the button marked 'Save All Changes.' Since shifting to Mountain Lion I now have to hit the Save button dozens of times to accomplish the same thing. Is there a better way to do this, or a different, better program?

What I want to do is get a Macbook Air, partition one of my externals for Windows and at least 1 Linux distro so that I can play with all three systems. However, my only concern is that I'm not forseeing some possible issues with getting a mostly basic level 13 in Air. Before you ask, I don't want a Pro since my current laptop is a beast, portability really is a concern for me for several months out of the year, and I want to experience the opposite end of the weight and ready-to-go spectrum. My friend's daughter is going off to college to major in media studies. What would be the best MacBook -- new or used -- for her? Ideally it would be able to handle video editing, while still being light. It needs to be as cheap as possible, but it should run Mountain Lion so she can get through most of her college career without having to replace it. What do you suggest? (NB The "Mac" part isn't negotiable.)

Okay, gang: I'm typing a very long document on Word for Mac (I'm on page 48). Everything has been working fine until now, but as of about thirty minutes ago, hitting return doesn't advance the cursor to the next line. It just jumps about four spaces away from the end of the sentence, as though I had hit tab. But when I start typing, the word immediately jumps to the next line below. [more inside]

I am trying to access my home Mac remotely from the office (I use RealVNC). Unfortunately, there was an Internet outage, which is restored, but the Mac is no longer connected to the Internet. It is however connected to the router, which is accessible from the Internet. AFAIK the only way I can get the Mac reconnected is to reboot it. Is there any way I can reboot the Mac via the router? Or is there some other way to restore the Internet connection to the Mac remotely? I am pretty ignorant on these matters. Thanks for your help.
I am using Excel 2011 on Mac OS X Lion. I have a workbook created by a colleague with 25 worksheets in it. I would like to export all of these to individual csv files. Is there a way to do it all in one batch? [more inside]

I’m finally signing up for an unlimited Crashplan package this weekend. This is my first time using web storage for any of my backup needs. Can you let me know if I’m thinking correctly about 1) what I back up online and 2) what makes sense for backing up in the future? [more inside]
In my annals of bizarre tech questions this has to be the oddest. When I use safari as a web browser and try to view xkcd - the comic flashes on the screen briefly but then is replaced with an empty space. I tried reseting safari, manually deleting the cache file, disabling extensions but it keeps happening. More maddeningly it does not happen on any other website as far as I can tell. But - it also happens when i try to view xkcd images in newsblur (rss reader). and - when i open webinspector in safari the image displays in there just fine. (here is a screenshot ) I'm again going mad - what could be causing one website to blank its image? btw if i click "open image in new tab" then i can see the comic but not in a normal (or news blur) window. (running safari 6.0.4 on Mountain Lion 10.8.3)

I need a 3.5 inch disk drive to read some old documents on my Mac. The SmartDisk drive I just bought on Amazon was not well made, and today after very little use the drive head just fell out the front like a broken tooth. I'm about to buy a new MacBook Pro and there's only one thing I want to do when I first get it: "Ultimate" Triple Booting. But those instructions pre-date the OS X recovery partition introduced in 10.7 Lion. What do I need to know to get this working on 2013 hardware? [more inside]
So I used to have a router running Tomato firmware, which would show me the MAC addresses of every machine connected to the router. I've been given a Mac mini and I'm dying to put it to fun or geeky use (already have a laptop so don't need to use it as a 'main' computer) but now that I'm staring at it I'm lost for inspiration. [more inside]
Back in the very late 90s a friend passed along a copy of a configurable Mac program that acted as sort of a screen saver (but I don't think that was its primary purpose) that produced different kinds of firework-like vector graphics that moved and changed in time to whatever music you had playing on the computer at the time. There were a number of variables you could control, including the design of the graphics, and maybe the colors, too. I remember on a couple of occasions needing to get a new copy and the only place I ever found it was on Macster; I'm almost positive it wasn't commercially available, but it was probably shareware. I want to say it was German, but I may be thinking of the game Oxyd. Does anyone remember what this program was, and if there is a modern-day equivalent for Mac?
