I have an old iBook G4 (Tiger) that I would like to use as a low-budget "media server". I'd like to set it up with an external hard drive so that our other two computers (laptop running Vista and netbook running XP) can access its files over our wireless network.

I just bought a cheap 256mb flash drive at the university bookstore. It has some bizarre formatting setup where it appears on my iBook (10.4) as two drives, one 1.44 mb, one 244.2 mb. Apparently there are some security features (a .pdf and .exe file were included, the latter of which is obviously no use to me) that are built in as well.

My iBook loves to disconnect from my Airport Express that I have set up in my dorm room. Basically, I'll go to sleep, go to the laundry room, or come back from class, and the network doesn't show up in my "Available" list anymore. The green light is still on (it's not showing yellow, blinking or otherwise), and the only way to fix it is to unplug the router for about 5 seconds and reconnect (effectively resetting it).

Is there a way to quickly switch between audio outputs in OS X? I have speakers set up through a Griffin iMic, and I also have headphones that I plug into my iBook's headphone jack. Sometimes I like to be able to quickly switch from one to another. Currently I have to go to the sound preference pane choose from my options there. Obviously this isn't an enormous pain in the ass, but it would be nice if I could map it to a keystroke or something.
I have Quicksilver and have fiddled with it a little, but if there is a way to make it do what I want, I can't figure it out.

Is there any way in OS X Tiger to create a Smart Folder of movies (mostly .avi) with the condition "Play Count Is...", as in iTunes? I'd like to make an "unseen movies" folder. This is very easy to do in iTunes, but I don't seem to see such an option in the Finder.

I'd like to be able to watch tv and record it on my G4 iBook. I know that there are a plethora of ways to do this on the PC side, with a special card or whatnot. Is there a (cheap!) way to do this with my mac? It has to be external, obviously, since I'm going to be using it with the iBook.
