I'm contemplating a new computer purchase, and one of the options I'm kicking around is a Macbook Pro Retina. Getting one of those with a big SSD is stupidly expensive. Seeking Mac game recommendations. Back in the day, I enjoyed the hell out of Oni. The mix of hand-to-hand and gunfighting, the story, the visual style. What other games might I like? I am by no stretch of the imagination a hardcore gamer.
Adobe Indesign 4 trouble. My wife is working on a document with two placed images (one is a B&W TIFF, the other is a monotone EPS) on a page. If she applies transparency to one image, both appear to be desaturated. This problem just cropped up today after she has worked on essentially identical files before. [more inside]
My wife has a shiny new unibody Macbook. We have observed a bizarre display bug. The bug is intermittent and temporary. What happens is that the contents (or some of the contents) of the front window will appear in grayscale. Resizing or scrolling the window, or clicking on an element in the window, will usually make it go away. This happens in all kinds of apps: the Finder, Safari, InDesign, etc. It happens on an external screen and the laptop's own screen (with or without the external hooked up). [more inside]
