I use iPhoto purely to keep track of my iPhone photos and video...it's just easier. I take tons of images, and with the 6's bigger file sizes now my library has ballooned to over 1/5 of my HD. I do lots of dslr work, and I need as much HD space as possible for my actual photo work, not my phone snapshots. What are some solutions you've concocted to manage how much room this shitty app gobbles? Compression? Is there an option somewhere to archive by year? What's the best answer?
i'm having trouble opening an iPhoto library without restoring my photos. i don't want to overwrite anything in my library, but want to be able to view something in a different library on my external HD. [more inside]
While I have plenty of experience with PCs, I am a Mac person who is currently using a MacBook Pro (OS X, but it's more than 3 years old), an iPhone, and a Canon SLR. I upgraded to the full version of iPhoto awhile ago thinking it would make me like iPhoto better. It has not. I'm leaning towards Adobe PhotoShop Elements 12, but I am not sure if that is the best alternative or if there is another one I should be considering. Some additional info inside. [more inside]
I have an iPhone. I use iPhoto on a MacBook. What settings for iCloud, Photo Stream, iTunes, etc will stop the frustrating situation I find myself in? [more inside]
I took a bunch of photos with my iPhone held horizontally, which when imported into iPhoto are now upside down. Last time I did this, and I rotated the photos in iPhoto, the photos then appear upside down when viewing them on the iPhone. Is there any way to get the iPhone to agree with iPhoto on which way is up? Or do I have to create duplicate photos and rotate one so that at least one version is properly viewable on each device? (Also, does anyone have a good trick for remembering what the right position is for the camera eye when holding the iPhone sideways so I don't do this again?)
When digital photography was new, I saved everything at it's highest settings. Now that I currently have nearly 80 gigs of photographs, would it make sense to "downgrade" all of my photos to smaller sizes? [more inside]

I have to print very detailed photos for my job. At times, the photos taken have information near the margin of the photo. When I import photos into iphoto and print them--whether or not I use preview--the margins are cut off. Is there a setting I can change to make sure that the entire photo is printed? This is driving me crazy. Thanks.
I have a MacBook and an iMac and would like to keep the same iPhoto library on both machines. I'm comfortable with making sure I only change the library on one machine at a time. I've done research and it seems the only way to keep the library on both machines is to use rsync, but despite following some online guides I can't get it to work. Does anyone know of a user-friendly link that will help?

I'd like to know the best way to move a selected group of files & applications to a new laptop, and advice to help ensure that my new Mac doesn't get bunged up with duplicate & improperly deleted files like my old one did, with its inexplicably full hard drive and crammed iTunes & iPhoto folders. Something terrible has happened! I'm using Mac OS Leopard and had backed up my photos onto my 500gb external hard drive in order to format the computer. Everything was fine and my iPhoto library, all 3.4gb of it, was on the drive and then... a disaster. Please help! [more inside]
I'm looking for some best practice advice in moving my iTunes music and my iPhoto images off my local hard drive. The 160GB drive on my Macbook is about full. I know I can use a USB/Firewire/Network-attached external hard drive, but has anyone had luck using a service such as Amazon's S3 for this. I know if works fine for storing the files, but how usable is it to actually 'get' the files? [more inside]

I have about 11 Gb of free disk space. Is there a way to find a simple copy of iPhoto6 or, say, even iPhoto4? It should be about 600-700 Mb, I suppose. thanks!

How can I prevent iPhoto from auto-launching when I plug in a card reader? When I plug in a card reader, iPhoto assumes that it is being summoned and auto-magically launches itself. I don't want this to happen. I don't want iPhoto to ever launch without my permission, which I might grant once a year or so. Yet, every day I have to cope with it launching multiple times as I attempt to transfer photos to my hard drive. It is a minor annoyance, true, but it is an annoyance. My question, then, is how can I make iPhoto stop doing this? I've searched its settings high-and-low, but to no avail. I've searched the System Preferences high-and-low, but to no avail. There must be something I'm missing.
