Asking for my friend, here's his dilema.... "Of course this happens THE DAY I leave for vacation. All of the music files on my iPod Touch have "disappeared." I say that in quotes because the "Other" file section is suddenly the same size as the music section was last night. Here's a screenshot:" [more inside]

I have a commercial DVD (the content of which I own the rights to) and I have an mp3 (which I also own the rights to). Two questions: How can I make another "video" using the visuals from the dvd and the audio from the mp3? Then, how can I turn this final file into an .avi? Further, what if I want to run the DVD's audio track at a diminished volume beneath the audio of the mp3, therefore using the mp3 like a commentary track? I'm on a Mac.

What's the best way to turn an iTunes (Mac) playlist into a self-contained Flash player that will play the music in that playlist? It seems like someone should have already figured this out and created some kind of script that can do it, but I haven't been able to find any such thing.

I just got a second-generation iPod Nano as a gift, and I want an inexpensive-yet-functional case for it, that will protect it from damage. [more inside]

I boght a 40GB Ipod back in the day when they were relatively new and, as such, I payed full whack. It broke down during warranty and I was issued with a new Ipod and now the new Ipod has broken down outside of warranty. I was gobsmacked to discover that Apple require ~£160 merely to look at the Ipod without guaranteeing the fixing of it. All this has led me to ask the question, are consumable electronics of this nature designed to have a short shelf life with the cost of fixture used to make you purchase the next generation? Am I wrong to feel agrieved at this? [more inside]

I currently have a 3g iPod and a g4 PowerBook (1ghz TiBook) running OSX 10.4.[latest]. I'm looking to get a new, smaller mp3 player but I want neither a shuffle nor a nano (unless they're the only choices). What non-apple MP3 players work with a Mac, if any? [more inside]

I'm looking for a program (freeware or shareware) that will convert an MP3 to MIDI for OS X?

In iTunes, why do songs I uncheck not play during shuffled playback? I just want to uncheck songs I don't want on the iPod and let 'em play normally in the library. It's easier than making a playlist for the iPod each time I add new albums. Alternatively, how do you manage your library when it exceeds the size of your iPod?

Why does the iTunes music store have partial albums that are missing only one track? That makes it outrageously expensive to buy a CD with more than 9 tracks and seems a pretty dumb business move on their part. [Specifically, I tried to buy "Sign O'The Times" after the Prince thread, and it's missing a track.]

My Dad's undergoing The Switch, to evil Apple computers. He wants some free MP3 playing software, preferably with the functionality of WinAmp. Any suggestions, MacFites?
