I could go to the US twice with that money (& it took me a while to afford getting here)

There's a New Years gig in Manchester I'm looking at attending, and I thought I'd make a trip of it by visiting my sister in Bristol (amongst other things). However, flights from Australia to England are ridiculously expensive. Is there a way I could fly to another European country and take a cheap flight (or some other form of transport) over? Where can I find an outstanding jazz bar in London?

Where are some awesome jazz bars in London? I am looking for somewhere that has a resident live band... the kind of thing you'd imagine Brad Pitt and George Clooney planning a casino heist in with both of them wearing suit and shirt with no tie. Whilst drinking Scotch. Bonus points if it's a place that has an entrance fee to discourage the riff-raff.

Prix Fixe Fun in the City

City of London Prix Fixe Lunching: It has recently occurred to me that I've been entirely wasting Lunch as an opportunity for culinary exploration. Unfortunately all the interesting restaurants I see with Prix Fixe lunch menus seem to be in Soho. But there must be some interesting places in the City of London right? What's a relatively inexpensive gift for a girl studying abroad in London?

My girlfriend is studying abroad in London for the fall, and our 3 month is coming up soon. I wanted to give her a gift (no more than $40ish because we put a limit on them) that was relevant but not too personal/emotional because I'll be getting her some nice jewelry as a momento for our 4th month - which is right before she leaves. Been hit by a bus... What next?

This morning I was hit by a bus while cycling to work. I'm not badly hurt but currently in hospital waiting to have my shoulder checked and cuts cleaned out. I'm in London, England. The bus driver was 100% to blame. The police have taken a statement from me and I have two phone numbers from witnesses. What should I be doing now to make sure I receive adequate compensation and the driver is dealt with appropriately?

How does UK traffic law work in terms of speeding tickets?

How does UK traffic law work regarding being responsible for speeding tickets for rental cars? I have received a photo of the car that was rented under my name and that, on the Avis papers, I was the driver. However you cannot make out any kind of face or person driving the vehicle in the "photographic evidence" that the traffic cam took. In the UK, am I liable for the cost of the fine, regardless of whether the actual driver at that time can be proven from their photo? I.e. because I hired the car, I must pay the fine? Would there be any chance between the Road Safety Unit and Avis that I would be in more trouble if I can't remember if I was the driver at that time, the photo doesn't help, and I don't know who of the people travelling with me was driving at that time either (even though they weren't registered drivers for the rental)?
