My Korean friend wants to major in photography, either in New York or London. She thinks London is better for photojournalism, and is enticed by easy access to the rest of Europe. She believes New York is better for fashion photography, but that's about it. Does anyone have firsthand knowledge about this?

Is there somewhere in or near London, UK that can give a summer-like experience for a few hours? I'm looking for the opposite of a snowdome or an ice bar: a space that's warm, bright and summer-themed.

I work with databases and T-SQL. I'd like to be taught to program fun software-type stuff quickly and painlessly, in London. Maybe some Objective-C, I'm not sure. I think I'd prefer a one-week intensive course or two to evening classes, but I'm open to the latter if they're really good.

I need a ridiculously soft white t-shirt to complete the perfect pyjamas, the most comfortable money can buy. What brands would you recommend, and where can I buy them (delivery by Friday to, or physically in, London)?
Additionally, what goes towards making a t-shirt soft?

UK (and especially London) folks, where should a returning US labor union staffer work in the UK? I’ll be returning to London (location non-negotiable) early next year after almost ten years in the US. I left the UK soon after I graduated (I’ve never held a career job there), and I’ve worked as a labor union staffer in the US, working my way up to positions with a good deal of strategic and management responsibility, but I'm absolutely open to a change...

I am flying into London Stansted later this week. I'll be meeting a friend who works in Central London, and then driving with them to South Yorkshire. We'd like to meet somewhere in far North London/Beds/Herts that is as least somewhat on the way from Stansted to the M1, probably somewhere off the M25, and ideally a relatively small, uncomplicated town (I haven't driven manual or on the left for a couple of years and this is going to be during rush hour!). It should also be easy to get to on the train from Kings Cross or Euston. I don't know the area, so I'm going by Google Maps at the moment. Our current plan is Potters Bar station. Any better ideas?

Is it possible to do boris-biking for fun and exercise? I'm visiting the capital next week, and looking for recommendations of very quiet or ideally traffic-free routes in London - central enough to be able to do in a series of <30m boris-bike hires. Hyde Park and Regents Park are obvious options - are there any others?

Where should we go to eat in London? We are interested in experiencing something different/quirky and not outrageously expensive but we don't need to cheap out either. We'll probably try Babalou
which existed as a vegetarian restaurant when we lived in London but has now changed hands and name.

I am curious about the origins of a few of the London riot rumours. How did the highly unlikely rumour that the Blackberry Messenger was the communication channel of choice for rioters/looters get started? Also how did the false story that Duggan had shot at the police get started?

In a few days I will be staying with friend's family in western France, at a house they own. I will be in the UK the next few days.
Normally I would bring wine or chocolates as a thank you for the accommodation, but France does these much better and cheaper than the UK (I am told). I am Canadian. What could I bring that would still be a great gift, that I could find in London? It should be something like food or drink, and something of benefit to people on vacation. Price about $50. The friends I am visiting are French/Canadian and appreciate quality/luxury
