I'm thinking of getting tickets to see Speed-the-Plow at London's Old Vic theatre: I loves me some Mamet, and Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum are in the lead roles. Hot dog. How can I optimise my chances of seeing Spacey and Goldblum together rather than one of them plus an understudy? My concerns may be groundless... but do the stars tend to skip an occasional performance, and if so, do they usually skip mid-week shows, or matinees? Any insider knowledge would be much appreciated. (In general I have nothing against understudies, who are often amazing in their own right. I just really want to see these guys at it.)

Theatrical types: could you supply advice on transplanting a small musical from New York to London? Any perspective welcome, particularly suggested theatres and people who "run the scene." [more inside]

I'm in London for a couple days and would like to try and get a last minute ticket to one of the more "popular" musicals. TKTS doesn't have any of the shows I want. Can you recommend another ticket seller that won't rip me off? [more inside]

I'm about to head off to London and I want to see some good, serious theatre. I'm VERY careful about what I see (theatre being expensive), and I like to read many reviews first. Instead of buying 30 newspapers and magazines, is there a site somewhere that collects or links to multiple reviews of each current show?

PS. I'm really looking for reviews, but if you want to recommend a specific show, please note that I prefer classics to modern plays. And I really like classics when they're done withOUT any obvious conceptual twist (i.e. I DON'T want to see "Hamlet" set on the moon.)
