I'd like to work in London but I have no idea where to start! I'm a British citizen, age 30, but I've grown up in Australia. I'm looking for any kind of work that pays the bills. Policy work would be especially nice (I have some experience there) but temping/office jobs would be fine too. Can you recommend me some agencies and websites where I can start, and also any other hints and tips for first-timers to the London/UK job market!
Thank you!

So
this (US union staffer returning to London and looking for a job) was me. Since then I've found a job opening that's absolutely perfect... but I need to fill out a UK style application form, and having spent my whole career in the US, I need some advice.

I am in the UK. I am currently employed, but have accepted a new job with a start date early Jan. I am wondering how to gracefully(?) resign in a way that won't screw my finances?

I've recently completed a PhD in the UK and will be applying for a Tier 1 Post-Study Work visa. I need to do this in person and it needs to be done by the end of next week but I can't get an appointment online and the Home Office advice line is unable to provide any further information. Help?

In six months time, I'm going to move to London (from Wakefield, West Yorkshire). A few of friends of mine (housemate, old friend, college friend) plan to get a house/flat together. I graduated this Summer (BA (Hons) English & Creative Writing), and am working in a bar and doing freelance web design in the meantime. I want to know what I should be doing now to get ready; when and where should I start looking for a Real Job, and when and where should I look for places to live? Does anybody have any other advice for migrating to the big smoke?
