Is there a list of important historical events which are now regarded (by at least a majority of historians) as true/accurate, which are or were recently regarded as fringe theories, hoaxes, or legends, or which are viewed as unimportant and given short shrift in US / western public school curricula and popular narratives? Links to lists or individual items appreciated. Thanks!

I'm looking for Hindi books that progressively increase in difficulty. I'm a Hindi speaker that learned from my parents conversationally, but I have no grasp of the Devanagari script. I thought I could teach myself the script by rote, then work my way up through books of increasing difficulty similar to how I have read books in grade school in the USA. [more inside]

I'm looking to gather data on the top selling laptop and desktop models for each year (preferably over the past 20 years and with total units sold each year in U.S. and in world). Does anyone know of a source or would be able to point me in the direction of one? Is there an industry newsletter? Ideally, I want something like "2003's Top 10 Bestselling Laptops: 1) Gateway 450: X million sold; 2) Dell Inspiron 8500: x million sold" etc, but I'm not too picky, any leads would be better than what I got now.

I've just read The Black Dahlia
by James Ellroy (takes place on the West Coast in the 1940's), I'm currently reading In Cold Blood
by Truman Capote (takes places in Kansas in the 1950's).
Please help me find books in the similar genre that take place in the 1960's/1970's/1980's (possibly 1990's) *and* that move eastward of each other. [more inside]

I'm looking for a digital to-do list that doesn't force me to set dates and can be rearranged easily. It can be either a website or a program that syncs to the cloud. I envision a simple list of tasks where I can quickly move the tasks up and down depending on how their relative priority changes. I would like to be able to assign an approximate completion time instead of setting a finish date since I never meet dates due to an ever evolving list. I plan to use this for keeping myself on task at work. The solutions can be free or paid. More preferred attributes inside. [more inside]

I love reading lists with exquisite explanations of the things on the list. For example Time's list of the 100 best novels of all time
or top ten lists that have descriptions of why the included items are deserving of being on the list. Could I get some more lists with this kind of breakdown?

I have a list of several hundred words that I know and like, but often forget to use in conversation or in writing (I compiled it by jotting down words I find myself fishing around for). I'd like to better familiarize myself with them, so that they're more in the "front of my mind" for regular use. Can anyone suggest an appropriate iOs app or Web app I can access on my iPhone? I am hoping to find an Android app (or web service) to replace the list-making service I suspect may not be available for much longer. I do not want complexity; fewer features are better. I want to make lists, check items off and then be able to re-add them later (for a grocery list, for example). Surprisingly few apps can limit themselves to these functions. [more inside]

I manage a non-profit in New Jersey and often need to make a large number of calls in a short time to supporters, clients and/ or donors.
I like to set up a to do list of calls that I can run through and just make call after call to get through my lists as fast as I can. I have an HTC Thunderbolt phone.
I've tried to do lists, but none of the ones I've used are not tied in to the phone dialer. I want to be able to click on a phone number in my list and have it call up the dialer. It'd be awesome if it also tracked my calls on Google Calendar. If there is a to do list app out there that connects to the dialer on Android then I would prefer to use that. But if I have to I'll keep my to do and call lists separate.

I'm trying to find a specific to do webapp I used a few months ago. It was of minimalist style, the main colors were red/grey/black on a white background. The main features I'm looking for (so if you know of a different one that does this, let me know) was that it was simple to add a task- you just typed it on a line, and that subtasks were also easy to add- as I recall you just hit enter for a new line and then tab to go each level deeper into tasks. I believe you could hide any sub-tasks by sort of retracting them into the top level task (if that makes sense?). Does that sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks! If I remember any more details I'll update the post.

For each word in the list, I'd like to include its American English dictionary definition (preferably American Heritage Dictionary), UrbanDictionary entry, and Wikipedia page link (I realize that entries may not exist for some columns for many of these words). Is there some way to streamline or data-mine this process, so I don't have to look up each word individually in 3 separate sources x350+, not to mention all the copying and pasting? [more inside]
