So, this guy who has been stalking me for several years is not Brady-disqualified because we never had a domestic relationship, and he's not a felon. I already have a protective order. I'd like to know if he's disqualified from owning and buying firearms for some other reason related to his mental health or criminal history. Is there an easy way to find out whether or not somebody else is allowed to buy guns in the United States? I'm a lawyer but I don't know this.
I'm considering making a game that uses USPTO patent illustrations (from Context-Free Patent Art) as graphics. I've read the answers to Patents.Stackexchange: Are text and images in the patent copyrighted?, which suggests that if a graphic is not explicitly copyrighted, it can be freely reproduced. However, I have some concerns: [more inside]

A friend works overseas for a US-based defence contractor. He's been involved in a somewhat work-related incident in his country of work and his employer is, long story short, refusing to advise him, maybe even turning against him. Lots of details we don't want to put on the internet. Need to find a good attorney in the US that has specialization in working with employment rights, particularly in international situations for US based entities (not sure if the defence contractor part is relevant or not). If state matters, pick Texas.
I'd like to read more about the victim's rights movement and its impact on law, sentencing guidelines, and other matters. Bonus points: California. Bonus bonus points: a critical examination of the victim's rights movement that is comprehensible to a non-lawyer. Any suggestions?

A new private restaurant/club is opening in my Santa Monica, CA neighborhood. Membership fees are $1250/yr if you are under 30, $2000/yr if you are over 30. There is no justification stated for this policy, like the way auto insurance rates justify their age-based rates. Is this legal? [more inside]
Hello Everyone, So my car is currently impounded at a private tow lot in New York City as it has been for the past 5 weeks. I only received notification from the police department by mail in the past few days. When I called up to the tow lot this morning and spoke with the general manager, he informed me that my car has already racked up almost $1400 (!) in storage fees at $27/day. (The police document said only $17/day). He also said that he had sent a package to me on 1/26, but I still haven't received it yet. [more inside]

A local community college is considering new ways to format student email accounts to avoid problems arising from multiple students having the same name. One suggestion is to include the last four digits of the Social Security Number as part of the email address. I don't know anything about FERPA, but this doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Before I speak up on the issue, though, I was hoping someone here could provide me with some additional info on privacy laws.

I'm in a bad pickle at this time, so I'm reaching out to the Green to help me decide which the best next step is moving forward. To keep it as simple as possible, I got in a car accident more than two years ago, using a major car rental company. I got an unexpected bill from the car rental company almost two years later (late December 2011) for a high amount (let's say over $30,000) that the other party apparently were given by the rental company due to their alleged injures. I had no insurance when I was in the accident. For many reasons, I felt the collection of the debt was unfair. I had temporary legal representation (a family friend), but he was unable to get the car rental company to forgo the collection, so he bowed out early January. [more inside]
