How do I get ALL of my stuff from Scribd to Laptop?

So I have a scribd account and been downloading to the Kindle. Don't like the feel and it's way too small to read at leisure. Would much like better to get it ALL on the laptop running Win 7 and be done with it. Downloaded Calibre but haven't been able to synch between scribd and laptop. [more inside]

Desktop replacement laptop needed.

My husband is looking for a laptop to replace his desktop. Weight is not an issue but power (lots) and screen size (large) are. Battery life doesn't really matter either. He currently uses the computer to: browse the internet, play lots of Steam games (windows), and do some 3D modeling (SolidWorks). Looking for around $1000 price range. [more inside]

Dock or hub for MacBook Air

Looking for a hub or docking station that will connect a 2015 MacBook Air to one, or ideally, two external monitors with VGA ports (I can't buy newer monitors), and enough USB ports for my mouse, phone charger, and hard drive. The hub will be stationary on my office desk, and I'd like to be able to get into work everyday and connect it to my laptop with a single connection, either USB or Thunderbolt, without fussing with cables. Would prefer something that's not too bulky. My budget is around $50 for the hub and all necessary adapters, but can go up to $100.

Same screen resolution -- but smaller images!?

I just can't understand this. I have two laptops, both size 11.6, one of which (Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series) has larger type and content than the new Lenovo I got (S21e)...yet both are set to the highest resolution, the native 1366 x 768. I try adjusting the "make things larger", but these are Windows 10 and it keeps me at 100%. Things can appear a bit fluffier, larger, a couple of settings down but this can't be he answer, can it? Of course my 15.6 lappys are damn near perfect...

I'm like the Goldilocks of laptop shopping

Some ominous clicking from my current laptop's hard drive, along with a separating bezel that I've taped together for the moment, have convinced me that I should take advantage of back-to-school sales and get a new laptop before this one craps out. I'm looking for advice with the somewhat picky wishlist I've got going for a 15.6" laptop that comes in at less that $800, and is ideally closer to $600. I refuse to get a Dell or a Mac, but would love opinions on other brands, and will definitely purchase online. [more inside]

Current PC Game(s) to Utilize My Graphics Card, but Easy on Processor?

I have never been a PC gamer...until now. I have a new gaming laptop that has a GTX970M with 6GB RAM, but only an i7 4710HQ (2.5/3.5Ghz). The only "game" I have for now is X-Plane 10. This is actually very processor-intensive and hardly uses my graphics card at all (about 1.8GB of VRAM according to in-game tools), even with the graphics-driven settings maxed-out. Are there any current games out there that will melt my GPU but leave my processor alone, comparatively-speaking? [more inside]

Do these things run down my laptop battery faster?

I wonder if having 4-5 Word files open (including 2 always, just for for convenience) will drain my Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series battery quicker than just using one file at a time. I wonder: Does more tabs being open in a broswer mean more battery drain? Is a nonactive YouTube tab best being closed till used? I wonder if even having calendar, weather -- stuff I seldom open -- pinned to my taskbar run the battery down more quickly. Same question regarding having several Adobe Acrobat Reader PDFs ready at hand...just comic book pdfs. These things take so little space on the hard drive, so I figure they'd also use less RAM than other actual heavy programs, thus would be easiest on the battery-time availability. Correct me if I'm wrong, but having Foobar, Windows Media Player, and Spotify open at the same time will drain battery faster than having one going, as well as slow things down generally? Add to that the Word, Acrobat, a broswer... Thanks.

In the current MacBook Pro lineup, there's a $100 dollar price jump between the 2.9Ghz i5 processors and 3.1 Ghz i7 processors on the 128GB and 256GB models, but a $200 difference for the same upgrade on the 512GB model, all other specs remaining the same.
