Our family and friend's family plan to go to big bear during this summer (mid June weekend). We both have 1 small kid each (3 & 4 yrs old). Our objective is to have a nice picnic together, relax, barbeque, enjoy jacuzzi. We want our kids to enjoy, run around, play, bike. We also want to take our kids on their first hiking expedition (one which they can tolerate) if possible. We are interested in renting a private home/cabin/cottage with minimum 2 bed/2 baths with full kitchen and hot tub/jacuzzi. [more inside]

Thanks to riding Chicago's L system so often I can sense my stop in my (literal) sleep, I think I'm finally ready to tackle Los Angeles' underutilized & unappreciated Metro & Metrolink system for some day trips between Ventura County and LA proper.
