I've been trying to track down a Japanese sports drink called Toreta! ever since I saw a character drink it in my favorite new Kdrama Goblin. It's sold out on Rakuten, and Amazon doesn't seem to carry it at all. Where could I order it from instead? Is it too new to be carried in Asian markets in the US? Thank you!
We're going to Japan! My partner and I are taking a two-week-plus trip in late February centered on the Kyoto Marathon (Feb 21) and trying to fill out the remainder of our itinerary. We're getting into Narita airport (from the U.S. West Coast) at the head of Valentine's weekend and ...I don't want to go to Tokyo. But where should we go? [more inside]
My job prospects back home (in the US) are not looking good. I taught English in South Korea for three years, and now I'm thinking of heading back to somewhere in Asia to teach English again. This time, however, I'd like to do it for real by getting a CELTA and finding a "real job" as opposed to the dead-end hagwon stuff I did in Korea. How realistic is this plan? [more inside]
I am a student and I want to fly off for some time before the coming Fall semester. I was thinking going away for 2 weeks. Spending 1 week in Busan, S-Korea, then 1 week in Japan, for example Tokyo. I tried using flight search engines but the price is exorbitant for me. [more inside]
I've searched previous instances of congee showing up in comments on the Green, but very few actual recipes. None of the recipes I've found online even agree on the rice-to-water ratio or cooking time. Recipes from any nation, savory or sweet and any serving tips or suggestions most welcome!

I really want to share this video I saw a while ago with a friend, for injoke purposes. But I dunno how to find it! Help! I believe it to be either Korean or Japanese pop music. I have little to no memory of the actual song, just the video. 3, maybe 4 East-Asian ladies. Strolling along a sidewalk, holding shopping bags, walking past upscale store windows. The sidewalk moves underneath them, kind of like an omnidirectional conveyor belt. I can remember no other details, really. Other than it was filmed in a studio (obviously), yet gives the impression of being filmed outside via lighting, and there were a lot of pastel shades going on. Oh, and the women are wearing heels. I want to take a ferry from Shimonoseki, Japan to Busan, South Korea, and then later from Busan to Fukuoka—but how do I book tickets? [more inside]
I'm taking a class this year studying the history of samurai and was wondering why I didn't know of a Korean equivalent. I know we Koreans love martial arts and fighting just like the Japanese, judging by the dozens of sageuks produced every year. [more inside]

Will a Blackberry that works in Japan also work in South Korea? I believe they both use 3G correct?
What's the startup community like in Korea and Japan? I'm sorta wondering how I can find out how many small businesses there are (and what kind of moolah funds them) in Korea and Japan.. but just the ones that are sorta "Web2.0" or have a mostly online business. Any ideas? Are there government resources that track private companies and categorize them that way? Thanks in advance!
Looking for a bit of advice on working (teaching English most likely) in Japan or Korea. [more inside]
What are the best blogs dealing with East Asian politics, specifically China, the Koreas and Japan? Bonus if commentary about US foreign policy toward these nations is included.
Dogs and Demons: Tales from the Dark Side of Modern Japan. There seem to be quite number of MeFites who live (or have lived) in Japan, and I'm extremely curious about their take on this book, if they're read it. [more inside]
I'm looking for high quality, reliable (since they'll end up having my credit card number) English-language sites that sell (and ship internationally) hard-to-find Japanese, Korean, Hong Kong movies on DVD. There are so many sites that seem to do that. What do you recommend? Also, tangentially related: is there an all-English-language version of the very interesting Amazon.co.jp? My Japanese is close to non-existent thanks
