Will the Korean doctor rob me blind?? Here's the long and short of it... my father is the doctor that pioneered tumescent liposuction. he teaches his techniques to other doctors on a regular basis and manufactures the tools and equipment involved with the procedure. Recently, a doctor from Korea, I'll call him Dr. Lee, took my father's course and liked it so much that he expressed an interest in teaching the course in Korea and to sell my fathers products in his courses. My wife and I are hosting some Korean exchange / homestay students while they study English here. One of the students has a really amazing cell phone - well actually all their phones are pretty slick. Super high res screens, high resolution cameras, slide out keyboards, better battery life, color phasing led-backlit keys, etc. I realize these don't work here because of "something to do with networks," but can anyone tell me WHY? and can these devices be altered to work here? And besides things like Treos and sidekicks and stuff like that, are there cool and relatively inexpensive phones available here? Is there a all-mobile-device weblog like Gizmodo or something that lists them?

Due to circumstances, my department has inherited a 1U server that, after a firmware update, the fans are blowing much, much louder than they were originally. Normally, I would call/write to support or look it up on their site. Here's the M. Night Shyamalan twist: it is a server only sold and supported in Korea ("What a twist!"). It is the Samsung SmartServer ZSS100 and I was able to Google my way to the official list of drivers and firmware updates, but the one driver/firmware update that affects the fan (here) has corrupt download links. In Korea, the thinking seems to be 'the bigger the piece of fruit or vegetable, the better'. In western countries where I've lived, the opposite tended to be the case -- people seem to value the little tender baby ones the most. A Korean friend-of-a-friend, and fellow indie pop devotee, gave me a metal bookmark. Of its many symbols, the most prominent is something like (excuse my ignorance) a yin yang, but with three "swirls," colored red, yellow, and blue. (There is also a fish, a butterfly, and what I think is a Chinese "double happiness" and some hangul writing.) Could someone tell me what this means?
