. So we actually already have flying cars, they're called helicopters. But why aren't there any helicopters that use jet turbines instead of rotors for lift? I'm not talking about turboshafts or tip jets, but actual turbines like in a jet plane. They would look more like a car and people would shut up already about this flying car nonsense. Thanks.

So, today, for no readily apparent reason, I was visited by a very vivid memory of a toy I had as a kid, some time in the early 70's. They were these die cast metal planes with little plastic landing gear and cockpits, kind of futuristic looking, in jewel-tone colors, that you flew on a little zip line setup that involved a little gun like thing with a little deck for the plane to sit on until you released it.
Looking on Ebay reveals nothing like I remember. Anyone know what these things were called.

I'm currently looking for work in Japan. I'm scouring the internet, Dave's ESL cafe, ALT (assistant language teacher) listings and am not really looking for help in that respect. If you have any suggestions however, I am happy to hear more. The only exception would be if anyone knows of any Eikaiwa (Private school) jobs or any forums that post job listings..
It is my question that since the work is not always steady and there is the possibility I would go there just to tutor, there is waaay too much flux in my ability to pay for rent. I need help figuring outside work.
Outside of selling Japanese items around the world, I'm trying to figure out ways to make money with a general skill set. I'm vocal enough and confident in my speaking ability so I figure I can lead tour groups on my free time and post the listings on craigslist. I'm also looking into working as a waiter or dishwasher, but I was hoping for some help generating ideas.
PS - I alreadly have information on career cross and gaijin pot. If anyone knows any temp agencies are teacher employment agencies, that would be appreciated as well.

Our 6-month-old daughter has jet lag following a 13-hour flight home from vacation. While on holiday she seemed to recover fairly quickly but since we've returned she has been up all night for days. Any ideas on how to get her regular sleep pattern (10pm-6am) back on track?

In what percentage of large passenger jet crashes are there any survivors? And on those occasions, what is the average survival rate?

JET Program-filter: I got accepted outright to the JET Programme (i.e. foreigners teaching ESL to Japanese public school kids). However, my girlfriend got waitlisted. If we both still send in the "acceptance" form, with each other still checked as "want to be housed with partner," will my outright acceptance and her affiliation with me get her bumped up on the waiting list?
