I plan on using Talkatone for making wifi only calls back to the US as well as using the data part from the SIM Card to text back to the US while I'm there.
It would be nice to be able to purchase a SIM Card here in the States before traveling, but I'm not against purchasing a SIM Card at or near BZE Airport when we arrive.
Thank you for your time. I do appreciate it.

I am going to Hawaii for a couple of weeks in February. I have recently moved from no cell phone to an iPhone 4s. I am Canadian. Basically, I have no idea what I should do about my phone when I go. Smart phones seem like they would be more useful than normal in another country/unfamiliar place, but I certainly don't want to come home to an insane cell phone bill.

I have an iPhone 5 purchased unlocked in the UK. I travel regularly to the US for 1-2 weeks at a time, often in situations where WiFi is not an option, and would like to be able to buy a pre-paid US SIM primarily for data. Now that the iPhone 5 has been out for a few months, has anyone finally gotten onboard with pre-paid nanoSIMs for the 5? Or is cutting down a regular SIM still the only option?

I'm going to Kyoto for a two-day visit in November, but with only an iPod Touch 4 in my jacket pocket as I'd like to avoid bringing a heavy guidebook/backpack as I walk around exploring all day. What PDFs/docs/apps/downloads can help make my visit amazing, or at least easier?

I am from the U.S. -- my iphone4s was stolen in a touristy area of Barcelona earlier this week. No calls were made on the phone in the hours before I suspended my (at&t) account and changed my gmail etc. passwords. It was not passcode locked/ didn't have tracking apps, but as far as I could tell it wasn't used. My question is: What "typically/usually" happens to such stolen phones? are they wiped and used as cameras/itouch?

I am researching travel in advance of a trip. I like to have the material available both online and if I lose access to the internet. It will be mainly accessed using an iphone.
Mostly organizing maps, reviews from yelp, Urban spoon, and some emails.
Any advice on good ways to do this?
THanks!

I'd like an explanation for how to turn off all data while roaming, except for push email. This includes anything that the GPS might use as well. As for emails, I only want to receive the body of the email and not have the phone download any attachments without my permission. I'd either like a good link or instructions for both an iPhone 4S and a Samsung Galaxy SII (Android). Thanks very much.

I'll be traveling in Scotland and England for a couple of weeks in February, mostly by bus. I'm an inveterate iPhone user, always tweeting, checking-in, posting photos and so on ... but I know that route will lead to financial madness. So what's best to do? I know I can jailbreak, unlock my iPhone, perhaps use another SIM card while traveling, but is the effort worth doing? Is it better to leave the iPhone at home in the US and grab a pay-go smartphone upon arrival in Edinburgh (and if so, how best)? Or do I bring the iPhone and use it via wifi only, hoping I don't slip and fall into a welcoming bit of 3G along the way?

My husband and I are visiting Korea soon. Is the famous WiFi in Korea ubiquitous enough to use his iPhone 4 for web browsing and Skype? We're also renting an SKTelecom cellphone, but we'd like to use the iPhone for data-related tasks and travel apps. Is it just a matter of his iPhone jumping on any Wifi network (without incurring any roaming charges)? We're coming from the US (AT&T), and staying in Jeju and Seoul.

I would like to purchase a sim card from three.co.uk because that's the network all my family (who live in the UK) use. Am I correct in assuming that I'll need to jailbreak first before I can use a different sim card?

Hello, I'm wanting to get iPhone (or use my Blackberry Worldphone) in Korea and other countries; however, I do not know the best way to do this. From my understanding I would likely have to buy an unlocked phone and then get hooked up with a carrier on a pay-as-I-go plan or something? What do most nomads do for phones besides things like Skype?

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to Great Britain for two weeks and will be splitting time between London and Cambridge. I have an IPhone and have signed up to use ATT's international data plan while in the UK. The plan is limited to 20 MB of data. Also, I don't plan to use my IPhone to make phone calls while there. Just access the web to navigate around.
