Is there any an easy way to get Internet Explorer to redirect internal network links through a different IP address? For technical reasons that are not clear to me, we've been unable to access links to a client's Sharepoint site. However, we've found that if we change the "sharepoint" part of the address to a specific IP address, it works fine. (http://sharepoint/menu to http://1.2.34.56/menu).
Is there a way to get Internet Explorer to automatically resolve the link through the IP address? I tried changing the system host file but that only seems to work for whole domains. Googling turned up a Firefox extension but unfortunately I'm stuck in IE. Please help!
Thanks!

I like to use the Favorites bar in IE8 and IE9 for frequently accessed web sites, such as iGoogle, Google Mail, Google Reader, and (of course) Ask Metafilter. I like the favicons that appear there, but, for some reason, the Gmail favicon always appears as the generic, IE website icon. See image link
here. I've tried everything I can think of to make it look "nice" like the others, but it always looks like this, even on other computers with the Favorites linked through Xmarks. Why is this and can anyone offer a solution? Thanks!

I'm trying to come up with a generalized comic viewer using just JavaScript. I have a solution that works in nearly all browsers, but fails miserably in Internet Explorer (several versions). I don't have easy access to a Windows machine, and wonder if anyone could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong (specifically for IE).

I love IE7's built-in RSS/feed reader. I hate, hate, hate IE7's slowness and general, overal crapiness. I would love to use FireFox, but I want the same kind of RSS reader functionality. Is there is a plugin or extension for Firefox that exists and works just like IE7's RSS reader?

How can I turn a long list of hyperlinks into either a list of filenames in Windows Explorer or a list of Favorites in Internet Explorer? Say I have 1,000 hyperlinks in a list so it is 1,000 entries long (could be in an Excel file, a Word file, or on a web page). I want to have these 1,000 hyperlinks as Favorites, which seems to be the same as converting them from the content of one file to the file names of 1,000 files. I can manually save each hyperlink as the name of a file, but if there are 1,000, and if they need to be updated every week, that would be a killer. I need an automated solution.

Webbrowsing/Internet Explorer 6 Filter:
When reading a long webpage(usually several screen lengths), I often click on a link that's part way down. IE goes to that webpage in the same window(as it should). However, when I click back, I often find that I am at the top of the first page.
I'm pretty sure it always used to scroll down to where I was before I clicked on the link. Now it only does that sometimes. I know this is minor, but it bugs me sometimes. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I know you can create custom error pages (via htaccess) for specific sites but is there a way to create a custom 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' page on the browser side with Explorer? I was thinking it might be nice to include a link to google cache of the page or perhaps automatically redirect Explorer to that page.

Should I install Internet Explorer 7? I use IE6 (windows XP) now and am doing my best to learn XHTML and CSS -- I'm a newbe. I've check ASKme and there is quite a number of folks that are against updating. These folks appear to have substantial knowlege of programming and are far advanced to my knowledge of the subject . Should a person new to web design just upgrade to IE7 now and learn design to strict W3 standards rather than wait until the rest of the universe is at those standards and relearn them the right way? I know there is alot of grey area here -- for and against. Thank you....

Sometimes graphics are not displayed when I'm online. Graphics *are* turned on and generally *do* display--that's why I'm confused. I'm not talking about unusual graphics, odd graphics formats, I'm talking about regular GIFs or JPGs. I use Internet Explorer version 6, if that helps. I would appreciate any/all tips! Thank you.

I tried searching for this question but I didn't have much of a plan on how to phrase unique search terms -- sorry. But, yesterday -- my internet explorer would put the title of a webpage I was browing -- like "Metafilter" -- on the title bar in the english language you are now reading. However, today, it's all in an Asian language.

My s.o. needs help with a technical problem on his home PC: "I cannot open any eBay page on my Internet Explorer. This just started last night. I can open all other internet pages, just none related to eBay. Is there a virus that specifically prevents people from opening eBay pages? This is really frustrating, I have run virus and spyware checks and found nothing, but I cannot think of anything else that could prevent access to a certain domain. Please help."
Anybody got any ideas (besides, obviously, switching to a Mac)?
