If two people walk into a facility for an MRI, one with health insurance, one without, will they be charged the same? Assume both are paying out of pocket because insured person has a high deductible. Does insured person still get a better rate? Or does it vary? Hoping someone with knowledge of medical pricing/billing can answer this.
I don't have my own car, so no insurance there (I have health insurance, period, no other kind). I also don't have a credit card, and am going with Enterprise as they are willing to work with that without running credit. In order to be protected as I drive a 14h round-trip, what insurance should I tack on? It's been a long time since I bought any (and I haven't rented a car in ten years). Advise please?

Disability insurance for freelancers: Worth it? Who does it well? The last question on this topic was from 2009, so I'm hoping for some more current info as well as (hopefully) recommendations! [more inside]
I'm filling out a claim for temporary disability and am stumped on the section about a third party--both of us (or neither of us) were responsible, and I thought I was okay and didn't get the person's contact info. Both "no" and "yes" seem dishonest/incomplete as an answer to if a third party was responsible, and there isn't room to explain the situation. [more inside]

Received a notice in the mail yesterday that our group health plan at work will be terminated on FRIDAY. The letter was issued on 9/20/2016. As far as I know, we are still employed by our company. Shouldn't we have been given a TEENY bit more notice? I don't even know where to start with this. Hope me, wise ones!
I'm going to be staying in an Airbnb for an extended period of time. Is it possible to get renter's insurance or some other form of insurance to cover the valuables I'll have with me? The Airbnb is in the U.S. and I'm American.
Mrs. Ivan and I need new insurance on our home and autos. I'm in Oklahoma, and trying to dodge the "Actual Cash Value Endorsement" scam. I'm really looking for help in research: looking for best value/best coverage for the dollar, of course. Any recommendations as to research avenues? [more inside]

I was recently injured in a car accident while on vacation, in a way that makes me eligible for a "dismemberment" payout in an accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy. Through a stroke of luck (if you can call it that) it turns out I'm covered by three such policies for this incident. I have AD&D insurance through my employer, I booked the flights on a credit card that offers AD&D for the duration of the trip, and I booked my rental car through a different brand of credit card that also has an AD&D clause. Within this year got two diagnoses of bipolar and depression while still on my mother's insurance. She recently lost her job. Could it be because of this? Also how will this affect her in looking for another job and insurance? Is there any to hide this or fix it by getting these diagnoses removed?

Hello. Thank you in advance for your help. I have had Kaiser insurance for many years for me and my son. I have been on auto-pay and I guess my auto pay expired and I never re signed up for auto pay so my insurance was canceled. Totally my fault, I get it. I suspect they sent me a million letters but I tend to throw mail away in a haste and probably thought it was junk or just a THIS IS NOT A BILL statement thing. But now what? [more inside]
I got my next house insurance bill (due in October.) My Dwelling and Other Structures (house + detached garage) are listed at a Limit of Liability which is 5% less than the house/garage cost four years ago and at least 20% less than it would cost to replace them now (since house building hasn't gotten cheaper and my house has increased 10-15% in value according to real estate comps.) Should I increase the Dwelling and Other Structures coverages to cover what it would really take to rebuild my house?

Hello all, I can't find this answer anywhere (without directly asking my insurance company). My wife has multiple sclerosis, and without insurance her medication costs $6k per month. On our current plan I play $30 for a 3 month supply via the specialty pharmacy home delivery. We are losing this coverage at the end of August, but have a delivery in progress and will receive the next 6 months worth before we lose coverage. Is there some way they can charge me for the medication already received if I lose coverage for the following months? [more inside]
A truck backed into my driver's side door as I was getting out to go to the grocery store. His insurance says we're 50-50 at fault. I don't agree, but of course I don't. I have anxiety and don't trust most of my gut reactions to things. Most of the people in my life say "No. The other driver's at fault. Push back." I'm looking for outside opinions. [more inside]

Seeking good descriptions of insurance jobs that are as gripping as I know they can be -- ideally, not life or health, but more like writing policies or investigating damage/loss to property. A fact-laden account of the work performed by real people would be best, but fictional is okay too. I remember television's Banacek, and the Thomas Crown Affair, as being interesting but not much about the nitty-gritty; incidental characters as in Groundhog Day (watch out for that pothole!) not as helpful. Thanks!

I have a high-deductible health insurance plan ($6,000) and this is the first year I will max it out due to a costly and ongoing medical issue. I was hit by another driver, who sped off and likely won't be caught (no plate). I have coverage for this but it took nearly three weeks for my insurance company to approve the estimate from the shop. The first adjuster assigned to the claim wasn't local to the area and tried to do everything by phone/email and the company wasn't particularly communicative about the process. Is this run-of-the-mill feet-dragging for insurance companies or does mine suck? [more inside]
