I heard once that the Indian accent for spoken English is a legacy of Welsh missionaries/teachers in the subcontinent. Granted, the cadences are similar, but on the whole the story sounds a little far fetched to me. Can anyone out there confirm or deny the truth of it, preferably with footnotes? Many thanks.

Help me discover this stuffed green chillies recipe. While in India I read about a dish of stuffed green chillies, but never, ever managed to trace it or even to find out it's name. This is what I know about this dish:
*It is Iranian, and can be bought from Iranian coffee shops in Hyderabad.
*The green chilies are cleaned of their seeds and stuffed with a paste that includes cardamom and other spices.
*The stuffed chilies are deep fried in oil.
*The result is sublime.
I would like to know the name of this dish, and if possible a recipe. Thank you chili lovers wherever you are.

I'm hankering for some curry fries after having had some on my trip to Ireland recently...do any of you UK/Ireland types have a recipe you like for a curry sauce suitable to serve with french fries (you know, chips)? I can find plenty of curry sauce recipes easily enough online, but I'm interested in some personal favorites.

How do you get that rich gravy like texture in Indian dishes?
Whenever I make Indian food at home like a Dal or Masala dish I can never get that rich creamy gravy-like quality I get in restaurants. I suspect its because I dont use dairy in my cooking but I dont think they do in Indian food either (aside from the obvious like paneer). I know they use Ghee which is clarified butter but could that be what it is? I thought ghee was more like clear and not very thick.

I have searched and searched online for American Indian art to no avail. More specifically - I'm looking for the kind of bold clip art (thick lines) or logo-type of art associated or signifying with each of the following: Shawnee, Lakotas, Iroquois, Ojibwe, Cahokia, Cherokee - animal art is fine as well. Are there any symbols of the same type of art that might relate to law or justice??. Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

So some Sunday in mid June I'm going to be driving from Los Angeles to Fresno. I will meeting a vegetarian with a sensitivity to wheat and soy products for lunch. I'm thinking about finding someone in Los Angeles to prepare an Indian tiffin for me. I'll need to pick up the tiffin on Saturday afternoon in order to make it to Fresno in time for lunch. Since this mid-June I'll also pick up a basket of organic cherries. I'm looking for someone who does delicious Indian take out food that can be stored overnight. I'm open to suggestions for non-indian treats.

I just heard a great track on the radio, it was an Indian pop piece, of the sort of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan style. The band or artist went by the name of `fundamental *something*'.
The announcer mentioned that he had in some way worked with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, but I couldn't hear it properly.
Any ideas? I'd love to find more of this work.

I am looking for two children's books by the same author. One is about a carved wooden indian in a canoe that makes an amazing journey. The other is about a hermit crab as it makes its way through various new shells. My 3rd grade teacher read them to us, and I loved them, but I can't remember anything useful like author or title. Thanks!
