The Rev. Joseph Lowery gave the benediction at the inauguration yesterday and that rhyme of his at the end is being called racist by lunatics on the far right. I saw an article in the USA Today that mentions he had used the rhyme before. Anyone know where and when? [more inside]

Why hasn't there been news coverage about the crowd situation during the inauguration in D.C. (or if there is, where was it?) We were there and it was GREAT but also a logistical nightmare and I'm confused as to why the only story about it appears to be in the Everett Herald. [more inside]

Recommendations for inauguration-watching events/places on Capitol Hill in Seattle? I know that pretty much every bar in the 206 is having something, but can you recommend somewhere fun for a couple of ladies in their late 30s (i.e. not the Cha Cha)? I know drinking at 8am is classless, but this is HISTORY!

What time will it be when Obama takes the Oath on Tuesday? The swearing in starts at 11:30, does anyone know how many prayers and speeches come before the oath and how long they'll last? I'll be at work but I can take a few minutes in the break room to see it.

OK, I have tickets to the swearing in ceremonies (WOOHOO) on Jan 20th. It will be me and my mom, we plan on being there from 800ish (security gates open at 900 until...5,6,7pm when ever we are able to get home. All the info on what is allowed/prohibited says about food & drink is that they are allowing "small snacks". What are some good suggestions that I can pack in my cargo pockets to take?

Inauguration-filter. I'll be in DC from Saturday to Wednesday. I'll be staying in walking distance of the inauguration ceremony and parade (my husband happens to live in DC right now). I don't have--and, short of a miracle, won't have-- tickets for anything. What should I do to experience the event? [more inside]

I want to make or buy an advent calendar that leads up to Barak Obama's inauguration day. Assuming there are no such calendars to be purchased, what sorts of trinkets and candy should I use to fill the compartments. I think the date range will be from Christmas day to the inauguration so I can give them as Christmas gifts to my lefty friends. (I was inspired by this question)

History question: January 21, 1977. "The afternoon of infamy" for people in the limousine business. After having just been inaugurated, Jimmy Carter decides to exit his limo and walk with his family (and a large crowd) down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. What has been the trend since?
