I'm planning a week-long road trip for me and my dad for the coming spring. The tentative plan is to drive from St. Louis to the small town of Waverly, TN. That's a trip of only 280 miles if we take the shortest route, and could easily be completed in one afternoon... but that's no fun. The Duffell family likes to take leisurely, meandering road trips. Help us take this thing off the interstate and enjoy the scenery. Don't be afraid to take us out of our way. [more inside]
Just noticed my ID/License expired last month...I never received a license renewal form in the mail but meet the other conditions of the "Save Driver" program to renew online, is there anyway to do this? [more inside]

My friend was driving a borrowed truck last summer and was pulled over because the police suspected the contents of the pickup were stolen (they were not). Friend was carrying a couple of pills (controlled substance, for which she had a prescription, though not on her) - those were confiscated. The truck was impounded, later retrieved by the owner. So, it's 6 months later... [more inside]

I have questions about this article which I found after receiving a letter from Exelon, our electric utility, warning of a price hike starting June 2016. What is PJM Interconnection and who controls it? Why are electric bills only rising a few dollars a month if the cost of a megawatt-day will more than double? Have 'ratepayers' been getting a deal until now or are we now overpaying for capacity assurance (is it assured)? Any explanation you can give is appreciated.
We are visiting Starved Rock state park for the first time next week, and based upon previous comments and reviews we are very excited. Although we're not the most adventuresome hikers, should be in decent enough shape to handle a few 4-6 mile hikes. Only staying there (one of the cabins on-site) for 2 days/1 night and want to make sure we get our money's worth! [more inside]

I moved to the Bay Area a year ago and have no complaints about the weather thus far. On the other hand I really miss the Chicago breweries that aren't available in stores out here. I'd love to get my hands on some of their new releases, particularly their stouts and porters. Anyone know if it's legal and possible to ship beer to CA for personal consumption and how to go about it?

I am a resident of Illinois. I received a routine speeding ticket in Illinois in early October. I am not eligible for supervision, so I am taking the pre-trial conference route to get supervision or amend. However, my court date is rapidly approaching and the ticket has not yet appeared in the court search and the county clerk's office doesn't know anything about it. I'm wondering whether the officer or the court system has failed to process this in a manner I can exploit to get the ticket dismissed, and how I might go about doing that. [more inside]

We rented a house in Skokie, and the landlord used an office-supply-store-pre-printed lease form for the city. It included a copy of the Chicago RLTO as part of the form. Understanding that YANML, does this incorporate the requirements of the RLTO into the terms of the lease? If so, he'd be required to submit receipts meet deadlines for the return of the deposit. Or is he only bound by State Law (which for a single-family home, seems to require bupkus). He only returned half of our security deposit. Is it worth fighting for the other half ($600)? If I accept and deposit the $600 he sent, am I hurting my chances of getting the rest? [more inside]

Hello, I bought something from an online store from a business in Illinois. I am in Australia, which does not require sales tax to be paid on items bought from overseas for less that $1000. When I realised the Illinois website had charged me sales tax, I pointed it out to them. They claim that: 'If you purchase something in Illinois, and that is where our "store" is you will be charged sales tax.' I don't think that is correct. Is it? Do you know of a clear authoritative document online I can send them a link to? Thank you

I would like to begin to sell my paintings at local art fairs and online sites such as Etsy, $25-100.00 price range. Do I really need to set up an LLC or sole proprietorship, get a tax number and whatever else just to sell a painting or two (if I'm lucky?) Thanks. P.S. I live in Illinois.
I have two sets of tickets for Smashing Pumpkins at Allstate Arena and now I am trying to figure out which seats are the "better" seats in terms of having a pleasant concert experience which, for me, means being able to see at least part of the stage for most of the show and hearing the songs played loud through my really nice earplugs. Posting for my girlfriend: I am looking for restaurant recommendations for a date somewhere in or around Lake Villa, IL (roughly 10 miles west of Gurnee.) I am willing to drive up to 30 minutes. I am looking for good food, strongly prefer an independent restaurant to a chain and absolutely no sports bars. Unique/hole in the wall is okay, as long as the food is good and we can talk. Both people on this date are female, but I'm not holding my breath for lesbian bars/restaurants in that area.

I've seen several solid orange license plates with black or navy lettering on them in the Chicagoland area in the past couple of days. A couple have been dealer plates, but I think not all of them. The Secretary of State and similar websites won't acknowledge the existence of these plates at all, and the closest I can find on Google are plates from decades and decades ago that obviously wouldn't be street legal today. What do these mysterious orange plates signify?
