What are the steps involved in moving registered domains to another host? I'd like to move a number of domains from 1&1 to WebFaction so I can run Django apps easily. An extra wrinkle is that one of the domains needs to be assigned/given to another person who will do with it what they will.

My ISP's new "feature" of rerouting incomplete URLs to their own custom (awful) search page is hijacking my normal browser behavior of completing URLs with .com. Anything I can do to reassert normalcy?

My inamorata works for a company that is, surprise surprise, experiencing economic difficulties. One area where they are hurting is web hosting. Their site is costing them about $600 a month, which is waaay out of line for their site: html with some Flash, nothing special, not even any video. It changes rarely. What I want to do is to take over maintaining this site and save them a bunch of money.

NetworkFilter: I have a bizarre and arcane-seeming problem with my home network, the Internet, and my ISP's DNS. Invalid URLs are being redirected to the ISP's search page—in some cases.

Help me get my domain back.
My domain name expired. My spam filter ate the renewal messages so I never saw them. Simple as that. I'm scrambling to fix the problem but I'm having big problems reaching an actual human at namecheap.com (the domain registrar I used) to renew.
To make things worse, I run a small ISP so this affects over 1000 people directly.
What can I do? I have backup domains but that switch would be very painful for my customers.

I'm on a foreign network (traveling for work) and more than half the websites I try to load (any browser) end up at a dodgy looking place called 'Med Network' (viagra, etc). [little MI]

nameroute.com -- has anyone had good or bad experiences with them as a host? i believe they are also somehow related to
hostroute.com, in case that helps.
