I am in the US and have never traveled to India. Today, websites started acting as though I am in India (e.g., the Google website had a popup asking if I want to change my default search to google.in, and another shopping website showed prices in rupees). Why is this happening? Is my ISP (comcast) giving me an IP address that is being interpreted by websites as being in India? Or should I be worried about a virus or malware that is making my computer act as though it is in India?
Switched ISPs and now not able to access my own websites which I host myself by TLD. [more inside]
Anybody have experience with plone hosting service providers? I need to find a good reliable provider. So far I have come across High Speed Rails, Siteground and Interlix. Any feedback on them would be helpful. [more inside]
Thanks to your earlier help, I have successfully ported my C# project over to the Mac. I have also ordered a new DSL line with a static IP from bway.net. What do I need to know in order to host my website, accessible via my TLD, on a PowerPC Mac mini running OS X 10.4? How can I be my own DNS and mail server? Without overshadowing that question, would it be smarter to think in terms of DynDNS for external DNS/mail services?
So I've finally switched isps, and have moved my blog to the new address...Is there any easy way to let everyone who has me on their bookmark list know? I don't know who or how many have me linked, for the most part. (Google shows my message about moving as the first link for "amberglow" so maybe i should just let everyone find me? The old blog url is dead already.) I'd been using sitemeter and can email each referrer individually but that's a pain, and won't catch everyone. Any suggestions?
