Website selling cool/ unusual found tools and the like?

I'm trying to refind a website that I used to peruse on occasion. It was a website that had unusual and cool objects. I specifically remembered it having a fair number of tools. It was fairly plain in design with a white background and seemed to me more like a display of cool stuff than a place really pushing to sell things. [more inside]

Re-directing Domain to another Domain Page via DNS Record A

Greetings MeFi, I come from old-days when re-directing web-pages and domains was done via one line of code. Now I am hearing this is best done by updating (A) record within DNS. However, I want the Domain to re-direct to a page within another domain, not root-domain itself. My confusion lies with this. The domain I wish to re-direct is not going to another root domain name, but rather --- a product page on that domain. So I don't want Domain 1 to simply re-direct to Domain 2. A tech-lead told me this is how re-direction is done but I am 99.9% still sure that DNS (A) record is simply for DOMAIN to DOMAIN, versus Domain re-direct to a page within another domain. Thanks for your help and tips! Much appreciated.

What was this forum-hosting website?

I remember a forum website from the early-mid oughts (though its origins may have been earlier), and I'm looking for the name and/or for others who also remember it. It was characterized by a (CSS-based?) skinning system that members of the community were very proficient with. It was largely used for forum-based roleplay, at least the parts I frequented-- the usual Harry Potter and X-Men and fantasy stuff, but there also seemed to be a large contingent of people who liked to roleplay as wolves. My building has wifi internet, but I already have a wifi network. Help!

My building set up free wifi internet, and I'd like to use it, but I'm already using my own wifi network to connect my Mac/iPhone/iPad/etc to devices like a Philips Hue, Belkin Wemo, Apple TV, airplay speakers, etc. How use my building's wifi internet while also using my wifi network? If I switch to my building's wifi internet, I lose my network and my other devices. If I switch to my wifi network, I lose my building's wifi internet. I'm really shocked by how difficult this is. With cable internet, I plug the cable modem into my router's WAN port & bam, I'm done. How do I accomplish the same thing with a wifi internet provider? Is there such a thing as a wifi modem I can connect to my Airport Extreme router so I can serve internet to my devices on my wifi network? I have an old Airport Express router I'm not using. Is it possible to tell the Airport Express to pick up my building's wifi & then connect it to my Airport Extreme by ethernet so it can serve internet to the devices on my wifi network? If so, how?

Moderation policy guidelines?

A friend belongs to an organization with an email list (I know, how archaic!). The organization has moderators for the list, but I think they aren’t nearly active enough. Comments that would get deleted here at MeFi as being sexist, ageist, racist, etc., go out as messages to the list. This has predictable results—some people argue/push back, while the majority just disengage. This leaves the overall impression that the organization is full of terrible people. [more inside]

One House, Two Lines

You have an internet connection running through your house (through a phone line). You move out, take the Wi-Fi box with you, but forget to cancel your internet connection. Someone else moves into the same house and goes to get their internet connection set up using the same carrier. Will the carrier be able to set them up with a new internet connection, or will there be some kind of conflict between your already existing (but unused) connection and setting up a new one?

Ideas may die, but how do you kill them?

CGPGrey explained how internet arguments are self-selecting in order to symbiotically grow two opposing sides who mostly just badmouth the other side with increasingly inaccurate stories. That wouldn't be a problem, except sometimes the process spirals out of control and spills over into harassment, doxxing, violence, etc. So, if we understand how the process works, how do you stop it? Is there actually an effective way to treat the angry thought-germs CGPGrey described?
