I surf the internets for a living.
My office uses IE7 which is woefully inadequate for the task at hand and is seriously affecting my ability to do my job.
Everyone agrees this is a problem but the solution appears to be not so simple

My company forces the use of Internet Explorer for a number of internal sites. Now, they're also enforcing the use of an old version of Java (1.4.2_06) instead of just warning you. The trouble is I have Java 6 installed and despite also having 1.4.2_06 installed, IE 7 refuses to use it.

I've read so much here lately
1 2 3 about not browsing as an admin, decided to
check it out and yepper, I surely was using an admin account. I've set up a non admin account, made a few other changes (described inside), hoping to find out from The Hive Mind if I am now safe enough to breathe easy(er).

I have the
Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar Beta 3 installed in IE7 on Windows XP. When I turn on the toolbar (Tools>Toolbars>Developer Toolbar) is shows up underneath the address bar up top. Sweet. But when I close the browser and reopen it the toolbar is no longer showing again. It just won't stay active. I have to got through the Tools>Toolbars>Developer Toolbar routine every time I want to use it, which is basically anytime I'm in IE since I only use it to test pages. Boo.
How do I get it to stay put? A registry tweak perhaps? Mystical incantations? Mefi will know what to do.

Should I install Internet Explorer 7? I use IE6 (windows XP) now and am doing my best to learn XHTML and CSS -- I'm a newbe. I've check ASKme and there is quite a number of folks that are against updating. These folks appear to have substantial knowlege of programming and are far advanced to my knowledge of the subject . Should a person new to web design just upgrade to IE7 now and learn design to strict W3 standards rather than wait until the rest of the universe is at those standards and relearn them the right way? I know there is alot of grey area here -- for and against. Thank you....

My personal laptop runs XP Pro which I installed using our company's install disc, which our nice IT guy lent me.
To complete the install of IE7, you must hit a button which validates whether your copy of Windows is authentic.
What will happen if I press it?

Out of curiosity, I thought I would take IE7 for a spin. I'm still a Firefox guy, but there are some nice features. Anyway, the problem is, now my subscription music download service from my ISP doesn't work right. I can download songs, however I can't play them through the service. When I try to, I get "Temporarily unable to play the music or video you requested. Please call again later." I've uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded, updated, etc., everything I can think of. Has anyone else experienced such issues? The software is "Performance" by Musicnet, through Synacor for what it's worth.
