Ex responded to text & apologized, but then asked me not to reply back

Both of us are in our late 20's. Not sure if it is relevant to anyone, but he was a Scorpio, and I a Cancer/Gemini cusp, ( I am into astrology and so I feel signs have some importance.) We were together for a few months, and it was very up and down, sometimes on again/off again, however there were strong feelings there for a majority of the time, We were at the point of talking about our future, saying I love you, etc. and Well, it ended pretty badly between us... An app to send "Help/SOS" alerts to the app's network or community?

Looking for a solution for a small group so that we could download an app and join the app's community and then in an emergency, for example, push an SOS button and all of the people in the community would get an alert on their phones (if they're connected of course) of the emergency. I know there are solutions similar to this but my app searching skills are failing me. [more inside]

Considering contacting an ex...

After 18 months of virtually no-contact, I am considering reaching out to my ex. I think my reasons for doing so are healthy, with an eye towards moving on and letting go (as opposed to courting drama) - but I would like input from others who have found themselves in a similar position. Also, if I do go ahead and reach out, what is the best way to do so? Behold the great wall of text: [more inside]

I might've ruined one of my closest friendships. Should I make amends?

The backstory might shed light, but it's long and I'm sorry if it bores you. I might make a TL;DR sentence, but I suggest you read the whole thing. TL;DR. Befriended girl and crushed, had a lot of issues that turned me off, turned into a very close friend, badly timed telling her about dead feelings, and managed to still communicate until I had to back off for a bit. Have you ever hired a resume writer?

I am considering hiring a resume writer. I have 10+ years of experience in a specific industry (industrial manufacturing related) and interested in branching out to different industries. I feel like I should be doing something different than the usual. Has anyone hired a resume writer ever? How was your experience with it? Any tips? My fear would be to get a canned resume that I could do better myself. Are there any personalized services out there that could really help differentiate the resume?

Ideas for a tech McGuffin in a realistic game used for teaching MBAs?

I am a business school professor, and I have designed a bunch of games for teaching entrepreneurship (my subject area). Need to Drain Water from Steam Heat Radiators

Our heading system got flooded and now there's tons of water in a couple steam heat radiators that are in the wall (not sticking out like so many). Help me remember this novel about a fake death

I've searched without success for a novel that I read and enjoyed sometime in the 90s or early 00s. As I recall, it was about a man who had to fake his own death (maybe he had accidentally killed someone?) and started a new life, working as a photographer. He caught something big on film (possibly a fire) and became an overnight sensation. The price for his works went through the roof but it brought him to the attention of someone from his old life and he had to disappear and start over again. He was trying to be a photographer, but since he no longer had any name recognition, no one was interested in his work. [more inside]
