Please tell me all the secrets to successfully feeding my dogs a raw diet! What mix of meats do you use? What percentage of organ meats? What add ins like yogurt, veggies, and eggs? What disasters and successes you have had. Finally, has it made a difference in your dogs health?
I've started seeing a dietitian who has recommended a mindful approach to food and eating as part of my ongoing progress towards health. I'm a busy student and freelancer who is about 50/50 at home or rushing about town to uni, meetings, jobs and shows, but I love cooking: I'd really like to have some mindful snacks that I can have at home or carry in my bag on busy days. What do you recommend, Mefites? [Special snowflakes inside, produced and packed in Australia] [more inside]

I've been trying a no sugar/complex carbohydrates diet by dumping vegetables and canned salmon together with beans in a bowl, or dumping vegetables and canned salmon together with shirataki noodles in a bowl and then pouring in hot water. This gets old, fast. What are some ways to simply upgrade the taste of my meals, without added sugar, simple carbohydrates, or too much added salt? [more inside]
Please give me suggestions for food I can take to a bedridden dialysis patient for whom food just doesn’t taste good. They are at dialysis three times a week and had a catastrophic event a few months ago. They are in a convalescent facility for the long-term. The food is ok at the best of times and too bland most of the time. I sympathize because I cannot eat food that doesn’t taste good to me either. However, they have to eat SOMETHING!! What could we take in the morning for them to eat throughout the day? We are trying to stay away from processed food and overly salted food. Some cooking the night before might be ok; some soups might be ok. I am trying to come up with a number of ideas to keep things interesting for the long-term. Their dietary restrictions are modest at this point--low-to-no salt; low potassium; low sugar. Thank you for your time!
While living overseas for the past two years I went through two different rounds of antibiotics, which were generally handed out like candy. After reading this article about the damage antibiotics can cause to the gut biome, I'm wondering how I can rebuild my gut. [more inside]

My recent blood work came back with a high fasting blood sugar. I need to cut out as many carbs and sugars as possible. A low GI diet that does not include animal products is the goal. This is a long-term thing, not a temporary diet [more inside]
I am in my mid twenties, eat pretty healthily and exercise regularly, but I wonder if there's any food(s) that I don't include in my diet that could help with my sleep. (There's a bit to write on my diet, so I have written that on the extended page.) [more inside]

So as part of my (New) New Year's Resolution, I'm going to be doing the Men's Fitness 7% Body Fat Nutrition Plan. It's a more involved nutrition plan than I've done before, and it involves six meals a day, four of which I'll have to bring with me to the office. I'll be doing a ton of advance prep, of course, but how do my fellow office drones/fitness geeks on mefi organize and prep and store their food when they're going to the office every day and have to deal with four or five meals before going home? I'm working on making a few changes to the way I cook to emphasize vegetables and grains, and minimize the animal products which I totally love but need to cut back on. However, non-dairy substitutes are not always automatically healthier than the dairy option. I need your help playing a fabulous game: whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiich ingredient is healthier? [more inside]

What are your favorite healthy plant-inclusive dinners that you actually get excited to shop for, cook, and eat? I'm looking less for "I put onions in my sauteed spinach" or "I cook lentils into a flavorless gruel," and more for something like "I roast chicken with garbanzos and cherry tomatoes, then serve it with a smokey yogurt sauce." I am in a weird phase of my life where I want to change some things. I have always been a rather antisocial person and for the first time ever I am dying to get out and be social. This year I made a resolution for healthier living and have been successful so far. Overcame a lot of bad habits compared to where I started. But I'm going on a cruise with a group of friends next month. From what I've been told it's going to be an around the clock buffet. I'm planning on using the gym but don't know how to deal with all of the food. I'm not going to be on the alcoholic drinks package and figure I can enjoy dinner that way. Breakfast and lunch are a free for all though. Any ideas for what my best options would be so I don't gain 15 by the end of the week.
There will be a 12-14 hour train ride tomorrow, during daylight hours in America, for two adults. What should we pack to take with us to eat that is small and healthy? No cooler will be taken. We can visit a grocery store today. There is no local Trader Joe's.
I live with a group of friends and we all take it in turns to cook dinner one day of the night, which usually consists of lasagne, pasta, rice etc. I am wondering if I could lose weight if I ate low carb for breakfast and lunch, and then ate dinner that is prepared by my housemates? [more inside]
