My most pressing question: Do I need 8-inch pulls for the larger, 36-inch drawers? 7 inch? 12 inch? What fits that size best? What about the 30 & 24-inch drawers? Can I just grab one size and buy 40 of them and they'll all look good? [more inside]

I often work on my family's cars, however I don't have a garage and have to work in the driveway or in a rented (by the hour) garage with lift. In my workshop I have the tools organized on pegboards and in drawers. That's all fine and dandy, but I've come to realize that 90% of the time I use my tools I have to chuck them in tool bags and boxes and either bring them outside or to the aforementioned garage. I want a mobile storage system where everything has its place and I can see at a glance if something's missing. Like the pegboards, I guess, only portable. [more inside]

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on 3. I get extremely little reception at home and a signal booster doesn't help. Is there a hardware solution, like a special case, wire, foil, etc I could use at home to boost my signal? homemade ideas and commercial ones welcome.

I'm a total hardware engineering noob who's getting into Arduino development. I have an Electric Imp connected to the Arduino via a shield
, which works great. However, I've added another shield that conflicts with the pins that are used by the Electric Imp for software serial IO. The Imp shield says that I can cut a trace and wire a jumper to use hardware serial on two open ports instead. I've never done this before – can someone give explicit steps as to what I need to do? Hi everyone. I'm looking for a wireless replacement for my Logitech MX310
mouse, which has served me well for years.
Many mice have extra buttons that can be assigned to various functions. The nice thing about the MX310, though, is that its extra buttons were symmetrical, so it was as easy to use left-handed as right-handed.
Do you have a recommendation for a good, relatively inexpensive wireless replacement?

I'm searching for a size-accurate outline image of a unibody MacBook keyboard (basically an accurate diagram/wireframe). For this outline file, any format will work, although Vector (.ai, .svg, etc.) would be ideal. I've tried googling but the results tend to be photorealistic images with broad outlines, shadows, etc. I'm looking for a technical drawing like a blueprint. The goal is to make custom keyboard covers with multiple languages by die-cutting and laminating paper; these would be one piece, hence the need for precision. I'm thinking there must be an diagram of MBP keyboards one on the web somewhere... Any advice on where to find one would be highly appreciated. (As far as I know, the keyboard layout is the same for all models except the 11 inch/Air.) Thanks in advance.

Ok, so I recently purchased a pullup cage/station. You know, includes a side for dips, a pullup bar, etc. and is one large metal structure put together with nuts and bolts. Anyway, I think I enjoyed putting the darn thing together even more than I will using it. What other projects/hobbies can I work on/build/create using a tool box, wrench, other hardware type stuff etc. in my small to medium sized apartment that won't lose me my security deposit?

We are missing a pull/handle for one of the cabinets in our apartment. The landlord doesn't know anything about manufacturer or the source of the hardware. The inside of the drawers is labeled as "G* Grass" as a manufacturer but it looks like they make the inner mechanisms not the external hardware.
Photo album here.
Any ideas on how I can find a replacement? Thanks!

At my place of employment, I have been charged with physically securing our two servers. The decision has been made to bolt them to the concrete floor in a cage. I don't know how to shop for a server rack. We have an old one that they're on now, but it's an open rack, without sides or locks. I need one that's more of a cage, to keep people without the key out. It'll have to fit at least 8U worth of servers, and also accommodate a midsized tower somehow, and be 1000mm deep minimum.
How do I shop for this? I can't find any information on whether any of the racks I'm looking at are bolt downable.

The rain barrel in my garden has a plastic flex clip
on it to hold the hose
that's attached to the barrel. Or rather it did. Half of it broke off months ago. I've checked Home Depot, Canadian Tire and Rona, and none of them carried a replacement clip. The rain barrel was installed about five years ago courtesy of the City of Toronto as part of their drainpipe disconnection program, so I don't have the option of going back to the supplier for it. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement clip on the internet?

Can I simply physically replace the 1366*768 LCD in my HP EliteBook 8440p with the 1600*900 part
and have the laptop autodetect the new screen and show the proper resolution? We get the keys to our new house on Wednesday. Hooray! We're trying to come up with a list of things that we, as long-time renters, might need to get for the house. I'm not talking about furniture or anything like that, but rather stuff like a lawn mower, a ladder--that kind of thing. Some of the stuff will become obvious when we need it, of course, but is there a list of things that no homeowner should be without?

Hello Austin, Where are my people?
I recently moved to Austin, TX from Fargo, ND (of all places).
I've quickly discovered that this place is flooded with awesomeness, to a point of being mildly overwhelming.
Thus, I am asking for help with finding things and people with similar tastes.
I am, a maker crafts person type, I mostly sew and knit but I have a background in sculpture and some interest in learning electronics.
I am also a cyclist, who loves chill coffee houses and a sense of community.
I'm looking for:
1. a place to consign/wholesale goods I make, mainly plush toy monsters, before the holiday season. also craft fairs
2. a couch, or a place to find a couch (secondhand); thrift stores dont seem to have much in the way of furniture.
3. a good, non-chain, hardware/surplus store.
4. a good fabric store
5. a job
6. fellow makers

A little over a year ago, I posted this question
about upgrading my home computer to be able to run Revit. I successfully monkeyed with my box to be able to run Revit 2012, but now my firm has upgraded me to Revit 2013, for which my video card no longer works properly. The major complication now is that I got the only video card I could find that worked with Revit and fit my motherboard, so this time it won't be as simple as just switching out the card. What's my best course of action to remedy the current situation? Technical stuff, specs and further questions after the jump. [more inside]
