Work has had me start building responsive html emails to send to our member list with Facebook share links inside. I know you can open links to iOS native apps from emails and websites within the iOS environment, but is it possible to have those "share to your wall" links work correctly? I've googled around a bit, but not having any luck finding a clear answer.

Are there still good reasons not to send HTML-formatted e-mail? I know that for years it was considered bad netiquette to send HTML-formatted e-mail (especially if you were sending e-mail to someone new and you weren't sure if his or her e-mail client supported HTML). I'm starting to wonder, though, whether those 90s-era precautions are still as applicable today. (This would be for regular day-to-day e-mail—not bulk e-mail or the like.)

If I send someone an email in HTML format, using a font (Droid Sans Mono) that the recipient (who has a client set to read HTML or Rich Text email) does NOT have installed on their machine, what do they see? Does the recipient's client choose another font automatically?

I've been coerced by a client/employer to start using HTML email messages for communications with our customers. Please help me do this in the most net-responsible way possible (or tell me to burn in the special hell reserved for people who put markup on the SMTP wire)

What's that program that takes CSS styles defined in the head of an HTML document and applies them to each element's style attribute? It's for HTML email-making, where such a nonsensical thing is desirable.

What is the best resource, be it a site, book, whatever, to assist those unlucky enough to have to create stationery files for MS Outlook 2003? CSS supports seems inconsistent, and even table-based layouts don't behave as expected, or even as they do in IE.

Hi
I would like to send email newsletters to my clients (about 100) and would like to do it all in-house. Are there good programs or tools to do this. If possible, I would like to know who reads it (I know ... privacy) by using images? / some sort of tracking if possible. Any ideas?

I am working on an application that will send an html-newsletter. It looks great in thunderbird or Outlook, and like crap in Gmail or Hotmail, which a lot of the recipients use. The template uses css, which is included in the headers of the message (not linked).
What is the common wisdom about html-email that looks good in Hotmail and Gmail? Is there any way to keep the CSS or do I have to start over from scratch?

E-mail obfuscators. Is it even worth it? Surely spam harvesters have evolved to the point where almost nothing is a sure thing, but what's the safest way to put a clickable e-mail address on the web?

I can't figure out how to do a multipart email message in Eudora 6 or Outlook 11 - basically an email that is HTML, (retaining an image map and attributes - don't ask), and those viewing from Unix get a text-only version of the message.

I need to construct an HTML-based email, with sound clip links, for our glorious marketing dept. But I am having problems with how the clips launch. When you select my link (you choose real or windows media format) the clip launches in the player, but a new browser window launches as well. So, how the hell do I get the !@#%$ player to launch without launching the &*#$% browser window?!? (Real Audio especially)
