Oh, Internet Explorer, how I despise you

Oh, Internet Explorer, how I despise you. I'm de facto webmaster for a small Center at a well-known university. I made a web page that, IMO, looks much nicer than the one we have now. Of course it's not properly displaying in IE, but looks fine in Chrome and Firefox. Any idea what code I need to throw in there to make things render okay in IE? Please please don't say I have to go back to a fixed-width wrapper and absolute positioning. Full disclosure: I'm a librarian, not a web designer. 100% self-taught with the HTML and the CSS and all this nonsense. Don't tell me to hire a web designer, because then I won't have a job. How can I get CSS dropdown menu options triggered by image rollovers, that are cross-browser compatible?

I'm doing a website for free for a good friend of mine who is starting up a business. I've been out of the web monkey loop for a few years and am banging my head against my desk with regards to cross-browser compatibility for CSS dropdown menus -- that include an on hover rollover image as the trigger for the dropdowns. Can't get back to where I was in Firefox

Using Firefox on some web sites, if you scroll down from the top of the page, select a link, and then hit the back arrow to return the original page, the original page does not return to where you were when you clicked the link, but annoyingly to the top of the page, requiring a manual scroll to get where you were before. This doesn't happen with IE on the same web sites. What causes this problem? For example http://sadlyno.com/ or http://seattletimes.nwsource.com

Why does IE hate my website?

Why does IE hate my website? I've got it looking decent in Safari and Firefox, but it looks hideous in Explorer. Having done a fair amount of Googling, I've come to the conclusion that it's probably related to one of Explorer's notorious CSS rendering bugs, but my self-taught CSS and HTML is not enough to enable me to pinpoint and solve the problem. A site I created in FrontPage is shown updated in IE but not Firefox, on several computers.

I created a web page using FrontPage (no snarks, please) and put it online. IE shows the new, updated web page. However, Mozilla and Firefox show the old web page. I thought it was just a cache problem with me, but I've loaded it on several different computers with the same result. How can I fix this?

Div in IE

An html/mac/ie/div question thats driving me mad...

Basically, I have a div with scrollbars on top of an image. In a mac (possibly only IE) when you try and grab the scrollbar and scroll down it instead grabs the background image and trys to drag it away. Any thoughts? Sorry - the nature of the site means I can't give you an example URL.
