iTunes allowed me to download the new HBO Now app. Site said available on Apple products with IOS. But, while it took my money, I cannot find or load the downloaded app. I admit to being an idiot understanding and managing my Macbook. But shouldn't the download appear somewhere? Neither iTunes nor HBO make it easy to troubleshoot. Any ideas/ directions??
I have a question about one scene in the series finale of Boardwalk Empire. Question and spoilers inside. [more inside]
Twenty five years ago (around then, early 90s), there was on HBO an advertisement promoting HBO. It consisted of a montage of recent popular movies (and maybe some older, durable classics that HBO showed back then) accompanied by a theme that was taken from a movie. The theme was choral in nature, haunting children's voices. Help me remember the movie the theme came from! [more inside]
I have been dipping in and out trying to track this show down. I had previously been looking for the clip on the Zodiac killer when I posted this specific question on the Zodiac in 2009. [more inside]
I've watched and really enjoyed Alberto Ferraras's Habla documentary series on HBO, and I was wondering where I could find or download it. Thanks!
I'm translating David Mamet's new movie about Phil Spector. My dialog list is substandard, so I basically have to guess what they're saying. In this audio clip, Helen Mirren and Jeffrey Tambor are discussing the evidence against Spector and cite precedents that sound like "Caitlin" and... something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Another "what movie was this?" question: a fantasy/horror film set at least partially in a castle, where the villain deliberately rips his own face off. [more inside]
I'm trying to remember an HBO series that was mentioned on AskMe recently. It lasted for only one season, and had to do with romantic relationships and marriages (I think) and was a character-study sort of show. Help?
How realistic is the portrayal of the media's coverage of the prison on Oz? (No spoilers in the question, potential for some in the answers.) [more inside]
I am very much enjoying HBO's In Treatment. I was amazed by the number of episodes in each season and then learned it was originally broadcast daily on week nights. How was this managed in terms of filming, cast availability etc.? Was it filmed entirely ahead of broadcast, as I understand HBO series tend to be? it seems unmanageable and risky otherwise.
I'm watching Game of Thrones and noticed that often the windows do not have glass, and yet I think I sometimes see glass trinkets. Glass seems like a very important technology because it keeps out bugs but allows in light, which sounds pretty useful when disease travels by insects and the winter is coming. When does glass begin to become a common-place part of domiciles, and what benefits did it mainly have for human civilization when it began to be more widely used in architecture? Is technologically feasible for the world of Game of Thrones, and if not, what are the main constraints?
What song played over the end credits of tonight's series finale of "Eastbound and Down?" [more inside]
"Is it Sybil?" Help me understand this dated reference in a Rita Rudner joke from the early 90's. [more inside]
Can you tell me what the name of this TV special was? It may have aired on Showtime or HBO in the late 80s or early 90s.
Long ago (late 80s? early to mid 90s?) my sister had a videocasette tape of something that was presumably recorded from Showtime or HBO. It seemed to be a "special" of some sort that involved a guy in a very stage-like unrealistic bedroom interacting with large monster-like puppets and singing strange comical songs. I think at some point he also swung on a vine from one area of the room to the other. There were a lot of musical segments. I think at one point he was dressed up in a safari outfit, but I'm not certain. I know I haven't provided a lot of details here, but maybe you know what I'm talking about?
I'm looking for a website that pulls the list of currently running movies on premium channels (HBO/Showtime) and combines it with ratings data pulled from imdb or rotten tomatoes or something similar. [more inside]
Has the person who chose "Straight Up and Down" as the theme song for HBO's Boardwalk Empire ever explained why he/she chose it? It's such an unusual choice but I think it works well.
Can anyone recommend to me music similar to the album Delmond and his father were recording in HBO's Treme? [more inside]
Game of Thrones: I haven't read the book, but I've been watching the HBO t.v. series. Do the long winters occur only on the Westeros continent? Or is it assumed that the long winters impact both Essos and Westeros, and/or is the result of some global phenomenon? [more inside]
Is anyone familiar with an Easter puppet special that was on (I think) HBO in the early '80s? I remember that it involved a bunch of bunnies working in an Easter egg factory, and that the Easter Bunny ("E.B.") was fairly nervous and might've had a Woody Allen-esque delivery. It definitely isn't "Tale Of The Bunny Picnic" (though that looks pretty cute, too). Bonus points if there's a streaming version anywhere online - I'd love to show this special to my bunny-obsessed niece. Thanks, all.
Please help me find a way to watch the upcoming Game of Thrones miniseries on HBO that starts this week, without having to actually subscribe to HBO. [more inside]

HBO, Cinemax or Showtime? I'm getting one movie channel with my cable company. Which one is your favorite and why? I love all movies and want lots of variety.
I watch tv on Netflix, so I'm always a bit behind. It's worth it - I love spending epic weekends with great tv. And I loved Six Feet Under ... for two seasons. I couldn't finish the third. Each disc would sit on my table for months. I finally threw in the towel. It was just too dull and monotonous. But I keep hearing how amazing the final season was. And so my question is, when does the series get good again? How far forward can I skip?

Trying to remember an early '80s (possibly Canadian) short film shown on HBO's Short Take (right after a video for the original "Don't Stand So Close to Me," which might place it around 1980/81, maybe later?) about a prep-school kid who spots a punk rock girl on a train and dreams that he's kissing her.

In April (or May....or March) of this year, there was a movie on one of the expanded HBO channels around 2 or 3 in the morning. I don't think it was one of those type of movies, but it might be. The plot basically revolved around a group of high school kids from California who were into drugs and other nefarious activities, and ended up killing their good friend (more inside)...
