Can't take the cold Northeast and wonder if Charleston would work? My husband and I recently moved from Los Angeles to the Eastern shore of Ct. for a variety of reasons mainly cost of living and seeking a closer knit community. Now that we have experienced a cold winter ( it's just starting!) we see that it isn't for us. Weather is a big deal and we thought we could handle it but the being stuck indoors, the layers of clothes, the desire to hibernate are all getting to us pretty quick.

Car rolling over filter: I'm looking for movies wherein a car rolls in a spectacular (potentially test-able) way. Or for an interesting or counter-intuitive reason. Think along the lines of the car flip on the way down Fillmore in Jade. Or the Bond/Casino Royale flip of the McClaren. Hopefully even more spectacular.

I have a Great Horned Owl Nesting in the dead palm tree outside in my lawn. I live in West Florida and have taken several pictures which indicates that It Is The Great Horned Owl. Should I remove The Dead Palm? Should I be concerned?

I am working on creating a writing centre at a local college here in England. I would like to add a Great Books component because it has a lot of appeal. What are your 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st century selections that one could add to a Great Books list?

What is the origin of the phrase "if not a great man, then at least a good one" (or similar). I can't find references from google but I believe I initially saw it presented as a quotation. Thanks.

What online shopping experiences have left you absolutely delighted? As in "I laughed with delight when I opened the box?" I want to start building a list of *great* places to buy gifts for my friends/family, and I'm sure some of you know some great places. My

Much to my surprise, I have been given a visa to visit ol' zhongguo (china) for a few months (i'll be doing research on minorities).
I would like to be able to surf the net anonymously but I'm a bit of a nOOb when it comes to proxy servers and what not. I remember seeing a similar question on slashdot but answers said things like "Just ssh into ..." I know what ssh is, etc. but i'm not sure how to use a proxy through ssh. can anyone give me some basic instructions?
I would appreciate help. Comments like "Don't go to China if you don't want to obey their rules!!!" or whatever are less appreciated.
Thanks!

I've been reading a lot lately about the Great Depression. What I'm curious about is, did anyone make money during the great depression? Are there certain industries that prosper during a depression? If you knew a great depression was about to happen, what would you do to put yourself in the best possible position? Invest in gold maybe? What else?
