A document revealing my friend's private information has shown up on Google searches and she is hoping to have it removed. It looks as if someone posted the PDF to Yahoo Groups, as a file attachment. The trouble is that we can't figure out what Group it belongs to because the URL is obscure. [more inside]

X is to Apple in 2012 as Apple was to Microsoft in 2000.
Y is to Google in 2012 as Google was to Yahoo in 2000.
Solve for X and Y.

When I search for something by typing keywords into the Firefox address bar, it directs me to Yahoo search results. It used to function more like Google's "I'm feeling lucky" option, and I'd like to get that functionality back instead of these incessant Yahoo search results. [more inside]

Under the hood of Google Analytics. GA does a great job of segmenting paid and organic search metrics - traffic, keywords, etc. How does it know one from the other ? [more inside]

Sorry for the banal question, but I have to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. We have a new website with a unique product to promote. As of 2007: Paid search. Google or Yahoo? Combination of both? What percentage for each? Does it depend on the product / website?

Google Groups vs Yahoo Groups: Which would you choose? I need to pick a free email discussion group manager to serve as a digital town square for a group of 300-500 people of poor-to-decent computer skills across North America. Please help me choose. [more inside]

HtAccessFilter: I’m seeking regular expressions to describe URLs that encompass search engines’ image and video search engines, but not the engines themselves, so that I can block said image and video search engines using “SetEnvIfNoCase Referer” in .htaccess. Also, I’m also seeking to block all incoming requests for one particular URL which is popular with these video and image search engines but which no longer exists – but I don’t want to serve them the normal 404. Does it bother you to click on Yahoo! links and unexpectedly see your Yahoo! name on the screen because you prefer to store your Yahoo (enough with the exclamation point already) password in a cookie? [more inside]

Questions about search engines: 1) What if you regret something you say on your website, say bad-mouthing an ex-girlfriend, is there ways of sending this down the memory hole? You could delete the statement, but how do you get rid of search engine caches? And how many different engines are collecting these caches? 2) what if you say something like this on another
website - is there any way to at least get Google to stop showing it, even though you don't run the site?

I'd like to print blank monthly calendar pages in a 8.5x11 format, but I can't find a good source. Google points me towards calendar vendors, and any web-based calendars I've found (like Yahoo) are predicated on me posting appointments and the like. Should I just create what I need in Word? Any suggestions?
