GV won't port corporate number, there has to be a way to port number to a personal line cheaply and then port to GV, right? What is the cheap way to do it? [more inside]
Is there another text app (besides Hangouts) that will let you use your Google Voice number to text from and receive? I use my GV number as my main number, that way, I never have to change my number with people, should I get a new phone number. I just really don't like hangouts.
I've been having problems using Google Voice for texts ever since I got a new cell phone in December (Samsung Galaxy Mega). Inside is how I would like it to be configured and what is happening instead. [more inside]
Are older phones or phones designed for poorer countries any less susceptible to spying than the latest Apple, Google or Android models? I've read about CEO's looking for the very old brick phones because since they don't have the sophisticated technology of the modern phones, they're harder to monitor or track. I understand the phones w/o apps are clearly more secure regarding third parties because they aren't sending personal data to companies. But what the government and everything else; voice, location via cell towers, SMS; the very basics.

Currently, I have a Virgin Mobile PAYG smartphone. I'd like to get a phone on my family's Sprint plan instead (for the same monthly price as Virgin, I can get unlimited whatever). However, Sprint says they can't port my phone number because Virgin is a reseller of theirs. I've heard that you can port your number to Google Voice for a small fee, and then have Sprint port the number to a Sprint phone, but this advice was found on a forum somewhere and no one backed up the claim that it actually worked. Would it work? Have you done this? I'd really like to keep my phone number, and before I risk losing it, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Can I use Google Voice as follows: right now, person calls in to main office number and gets a recording (for X press 1, for Y press 2, for A press 3, and for B press 4) and upon choosing an extension that phone rings and if not answered goes into that extension's VM box. Can I forward this somehow so that each extension rings to a different Voice number? [more inside]
I can no longer access my Google Voice account. I can't get my head around Google Voice. Just what can it do for me? [more inside]
I use google voicemail on my Motorola Droid. When someone leaves a message that includes a phone number that is different from the number they're calling from, google does a good job of transcribing it. As far as I can tell, however, there's no simple way of calling back that spoken, transcribed number. Instead, I have to memorize it, switch over to phone and key it in (and forget a few digits and switch back and forth and crash the car etc). I feel like maybe I'm just missing something simple, but I'm coming up empty searching for an answer. Does anyone know if it's possible?
Why is it that calls made to my cell phone from other cell phones connect to my Google Voice inbox, but calls made to my cell phone from landlines go to my carriers voicemail? And how do I make GV the default for *all* calls, irrespective of their origin? [more inside]
I'm trying to use Google Voice instead of Jott to transcribe voice messages that I send to myself on my mobile phone. It works fine when I call from my work landline, but when I call from my mobile phone, the Google Voice lady starts asking for my PIN - i.e., I can't leave a voice message. Obviously I've got it set up wrong, but I don't know how to fix it. Please help!
