I have multiple email addresses associated with my gmail account. Can I make one of them show up as the default in an
original email's "from" field based on the email address or domain I'm writing to?

I logged into Google Chrome on my home computer this morning without thinking much about it via my Gmail account. I immediately noticed my bookmarks bar, web history etc. have all been transformed into the settings from my WORK computer and my home computer bookmarks are gone. I signed out of Chrome, but the work bookmarks are still there. How do I fix this?

In Gmail, is there a way to chat from an alternate email?
They are both Gmail accounts. One is my main, which the chat defaults to. I would like to be able to chat from my alt email so I can don't have to give out my full name to random folks from the internet. I found someone asking this very question on the Gmail forums, but there were no answers.

A couple weeks ago I got an email from google to my gmail account that there was a "Suspicious sign in prevented". I changed my pw and all that, and there've been no more attempts and I'm not overly concerned anymore. However, I am pretty curious. The IP address google reported isn't one that pulls up any info when I look it up, and I'm just wondering if anyone can shed any light on what this might signify and a potential origin -- private proxy of some sort?
The IPv4 is 255.0.15.210. IPv6 2600:1003:b011:e219::103 .

I use multiple google accounts, and their multiple sign-in feature is generally very helpful to me. I have a work google domain account, managed by my company, and a personal google account. Lately, when I have gone to youtube or google voice, it often associates to my work account, which I do not want. I'd prefer that my work account is only associated with gmail. Is this possible?

It's possible to drag a message to a label in GMail by grabbing it from the leftmost edge. However, on a hi-res monitor, this can be quite difficult. Is there a hack or greasemonkey script that allows you to drag the message by clicking and dragging anywhere in the Subject rather than just the left edge?

I have an absurdly common name and literally every combination of myfirst, last and middle initial are taken. I want to avoid using numbers and try to have a somewhat professional email address. Not for job hunting but in general. Preference is to use Gmail. Also I cant buy my own domain because I don't have a credit card and even if I did, my name is taken in .com and a few others I believe.
I was thinking about using a suffix... so firstname.lastname.___@gmail.com
Anyone have ideas to fill in the blanks? Thanks!

This morning about 108 gmail inbox messages vanished. I can find them under "all mail" but i don't know they would leave the inbox. Also, someone's been trying to add an event to my google calendar, with no success.
are these two things related? is there evidence of a hack?
thank you.

Google contacts seems to be getting increasingly problematic for me. In some contact records, I have over a dozen random email addresses assigned to a contact (that have no relation at all). In others, the contact email is legitimate, but is now named after some individual I have never ever had any form of contact with, apparently through some google+ functionality (I have not signed up for google+).
Aside from ditching this increasingly crappy platform, any advice how it make this work?
I cant see hand fixing thousands of contacts....

Please recommend for me a new search tool to replace Google Desktop. Ideally I want something that searches the full text of all files, that covers everything on my hard drive plus Google Docs. I want it to be fast, offer results in context, and have a simple interface that offers 'sort by relevance' and 'sort by date.' I use Ubuntu.

In short: how do I sync all my contacts between Mac OS X Address Book, iOS, iCloud.com, and Gmail.com? Not as short: In olden days, I used the Address Book app on my Mac to store all my contacts. Everything in there would sync to MobileMe (and by extension, iPhone, iPad and me.com) and Google (for Gmail). After iCloud was released in October, turning on contact syncing between Address Book and iCloud resulted in a message that said if iCloud contact syncing is turned on Google syncing must be turned off. Googling tells me that lots of people are having this problem, but I'm not finding a solution within all the noise. What am I missing? Any settings to change? Any software? Thanks in advance.

Gmail and Word Question: just recently, perhaps since the new look Gmail, sometimes when I compose a long email in Word, then copy and paste the text into an email reply, it looks fine, then I hit Send, and it ends up being sent without the proper line breaks. Specifically, the blank line between paragraphs (two paragraph marks from Word) become just one new line, and the email looks like a huge wall of text. There didn't seem to be any way for me to know that this would happen, as it looked fine when pasted into the reply box before I hit send. Also, if I compose a new message and post the text, it seems to go through fine; this only happens with reply. Is there an easy fix that I can do every time to stop this from happening? Can anyone explain this? Thanks.
