Since I'm frustrated with gmail, I'm thinking of installing Thunderbird to manage my email on three computers (home, office, laptop). Is this a good idea?

I just installed Thunderbird and added my gmail account. Thunderbird only wants to "get" about 100 emails at a time. I have many thousands of emails. Is there any way to make Thunderbird get all of my emails in one go? I don't want to sit here pressing "get mail" indefinitely.

My company recently switched from a standard POP mail server to having GMail as our MX server and hosting all our business accounts. Overall the benefits are quite positive, but I'm having some usage issues that bug me. Can you help me use gmail better? Specific questions inside.

Gmail IMAP + Thunderbird: I set up Thunderbird as my email client last week, and everything has been smooth sailing until today. When I opened T-bird, every email I've ever written was in my Inbox! Please make it stop!

I want to run a mail server on my computer so that I can feed email from different POP accounts into an IMAP account. The weird part is I don't care to access by IMAP over the web, but I do want to POP it into GMail. Confused? Me too.

Gmail-with-Thunderbird filter: I've recently switched from a local ISP with Netscape mail to Gmail with Thunderbird. I love the switch but for two minor irritations - the conversation-based mail creating constant duplicates in my Thunderbird inbox, and Thunderbird continually thinking my emails are scams. Help?

I’m hoping that someone can provide me with some email tips, specifically for a Hotmail user.
The main problem I’ve been having is finding a streamlined solution for all of my email accounts. Here’s my current setup/status:
- 1 hotmail account (my main application)
- 2 gmail accounts (used mainly for online sign ups and the like)
- 1 work email account
- 1 account through my ISP (time warner – roadrunner)
- Multiple site accounts at joelneuenhaus.com
- To wrap it all up, I use MS Outlook 2003 (work is accessed directly through an Outlook POP3 setup; my website accounts are forwarded to gmail and gmail is forwarded to hotmail; my ISP account is accessed via POP mail retrieval in Hotmail – a real pain – finally Hotmail is accessed through an Outlook HTML account)

I have an awful lot of email filtered/labelled and filed within Gmail. When I download it via POP using Thunderbird, is there any way of it automatically going into specific folders within Thunderbird? :)

I recently started forwarding my e-mail from my university account to GMail. I read it in Thunderbird and when I reply, it replies from my GMail account, since that's the one it was most recently sent to. Can I make the reply come from my school account by default?
