I'm turning a small vintage samsonite leather suitcase into a baby travel kit that will stay in my sister's truck.
I know how to get the lingering smells out, and how to replace the liner. I also figured out how to clean leather. But what type of paint is best to use on leather?
I want to add some decorative elements with a baby theme to the outside and I'm not sure if acrylics are okay.

I am looking for an analog wristwatch for my husband's birthday. I know nothing about watches; this is more of a meaningful/nostalgic gift for both of us. Price: let's say up to the $250 range. Anyone have model suggestions or tips for finding one?

In a few days I will be staying with friend's family in western France, at a house they own. I will be in the UK the next few days.
Normally I would bring wine or chocolates as a thank you for the accommodation, but France does these much better and cheaper than the UK (I am told). I am Canadian. What could I bring that would still be a great gift, that I could find in London? It should be something like food or drink, and something of benefit to people on vacation. Price about $50. The friends I am visiting are French/Canadian and appreciate quality/luxury

I have a friend who may lose his eye because of cancer in his sinuses, which is being treated with radiation. I'd like to buy him an eye patch, and specifically wanted to buy one that was high quality. Can you suggest some vendors, some suggested designs (especially funny ones), and anything else you think I might could do that would let him know how much he's loved?

My sister is about to turn 27 and I'd love to give her a hundred dollars' worth of
awesome! in Washington DC. She loves books, museums, coffee, food (but not cooking), and all sorts of quirky/funny/ unexpected things (think
Pirate Shop in San Francisco). She lives in Columbia Heights and does not have a car. Ideally, the gift would be something I could order online and have sent to her. Any ideas, fellow MeFites?

I'm looking for suggestions for a gift to be delivered to my friend in New York City. I'm out of the loop: what neat thing do all the cool kids in NY want these days? For example, I think Kiehl's was all the rage a couple of years ago, and Philosophy body washes before that. She is 30, single, lives in Brooklyn, enjoys good food and drink, likes fun personal care products, is very busy at work, is very hip, elegant and quite intelligent. I know she reads things like DailyCandy and Flavorpill (I had a look there but nothing caught my eye).

Gift Filter: Under $40 shipped, small token of appreciation for my mentor. I'd like it to be a small decoration (or the like) that he could put on his desk. Other requirements: somehow related to both golf (his favorite hobby) and the oilfield (his career for 35+ years). I'm not very crafty, so hand making something isn't an option.

Do people send flowers to a wedding? I have a friend (who is originally from Turkey--this is relevant) who was invited to the Florida wedding of her father's friend's daughter (who was born in the U.S. but is of Turkish descent). My friend can't attend, wants to send flowers, and is wondering whether to send them to the church or the reception.

My girlfriend is studying abroad in London for the fall, and our 3 month is coming up soon. I wanted to give her a gift (no more than $40ish because we put a limit on them) that was relevant but not too personal/emotional because I'll be getting her some nice jewelry as a momento for our 4th month - which is right before she leaves.

My father (a widower) is getting remarried quite soon. Can you help me come up with an appropriate, ideally "experience-based" wedding gift for somewhere in the vicinity of southern Ohio? Perhaps even one that isn't going to break the bank? Because if not, I'm sorely tempted to go the "really nice card" route.
