London, UK filter: help me come up with a wedding gift!

My friend is getting married this week, yay! I didn't get her a present originally because it's a destination wedding, but I've changed my mind and really want to get her and her hubby something nice that would be an "experience" (like a night out or something). What London-based thing (i.e. gift cert to a hip restaurant) can I get her? Needs to be something I can buy online, as I'm not in London. [more inside]

When a "get well soon" card is not quite enough

About a year ago, my family moved into a house in a new neighborhood. Our next door neighbors have been welcoming from the beginning and we like them a lot. We found out recently that our neighbor had a heart attack, and is currently recuperating at home while taking a break from work. We'd like to get a gift to show our support. Flowers seem insufficient, Gift Basket maybe too impersonal. We're feeling stumped and would love some ideas. [more inside]

Thanking my vet for really exceptional service?

In the last four months, I lost both of my beloved cats to cancer. During the great cat die-off, my vet was not only a vet-- he was a friend, a shrink and a sanity check. He emailed me daily, even on his vacation. He did free house calls. He called me several times a week. I would like to thank him in some way which is both a big enough thank you and not too much. Restaurant gift certificate redeemed before I used it?!

My sisters got me a $100 gift certificate to a nice restaurant here a few months ago (think really nice steak and seafood, there are a couple others elsewhere in the country; I'm in California). They bought it online, emailed me the link, etc. we finally use it last, go to pay, and are told that the balance is $0 and the certificate was already used approximately 6 days after I received it!! Thank you for a generous boss

My boss gave me a very (very) generous gift. What is an appropriate way to thank him? Buying him things seems a little gauche as his price range is so far above mine. I was thinking a card but that seems like not enough for what the gift was. Hope me?

gift for two year old and for new parents

Hi everyone. I am going to be traveling in a month and staying with close friends, whose children I am fairy godparent to. Nephew #1 is two and a half, nephew #2 is going to be less than 3 months old. I would like to get a gift for nephew #1, the two and a half year old, and perhaps something for the parents. My needs are fairly simple, but I'm not around kids much and I don't know what I'm doing. More details under the cut. [more inside]

What should I give away at my special event?

I work for a community non-profit organization. A local iconic structure in our neighborhood is turning 50 years old this year. Gift ideas for an electric bass beginner

One of my friends is learning to play bass, I've been helping him out with some basic stuff as I play guitar, but I don't know much bass specific stuff. It's his birthday soon, and I'd like to get him something bass related. Is there a book, a piece of kit or anything really that you'd recommend? The stuff we're going through is mainly blues/rock. Thanks.

Gift for someone starting a job that involves international travel?

I have a friend and coworker who is quitting to take a job related to international development. I'd like to get her a small gift to celebrate this new stage in her life. The new job involves some international travel - probably one week away out of every 2-3 months. I'm thinking it would be nice to get her something that is supportive of her new job - maybe something that will make the travel nicer. What should I get her? Double check my drone gift plan

I'm choosing a drone for a Christmas present and I could use some input. Total budget is $550-600 and that is a pretty hard limit. The intended use would be aerial photography, flying for fun and just poking around looking at things from above. The recipient is a novice and does not already have a GoPro or similar camera. They would be comfortable with minor repairs (props, battery, etc) but not with a complete DIY option. [more inside]
