What is this dessert I read about on a blog? It was cooked by a German person and the blog author wrote: "It was like a really, really thick pancake cooked in a huge skillet, then cut up into big chunks, and topped with a syrupy, crystallized type of peach topping that was just to DIE for. Everyone in Germany/Austria/Hungary knows what it is". I don't think she knew what it was called, but I want to, because it sounds freaking delicious!

I’m in a conundrum -
I hold a Bachelors Degree in Physics and I am currently searching for a Master’s Programme at a German University specialising in the management of Oil resources and/or the relation to Oil and Physics that I studied. [more inside]

What is this German hairstyle? As seen recently in Berlin on a hip young man and not-hip young child, it seemed shorter on the top than on the sides but not a mullet (my memory is a little hazy), like it must have been a traditional quick n' easy home haircut possibly done with clippers but not something I've ever seen in the states. Bonus: how do you achieve this hairstyle?

I want to take some intensive language classes in Germany for 6-7 months. I'm not affiliated with a university, and I have a bunch of question about visas and one short question about stipends from the Goethe Institut. [more inside]

How does one say "Merry Christmas" in Bavaria? Is it Fröhliche Weihnachten? Frohe Weihnachten? Something else? I'm looking for the standard phrase people write in Christmas cards.

There's a wonderful liqueur that I'd like to buy as a gift, but it's only available from a distillery in Germany. I contacted the distillery, and with my somewhat limited German, was able to ask about shipment to the US. They can ship it, but don't accept payment via credit card, but rather "mit Rechnung." This I believe to be "by check," but I'm not sure. Has anyone had experience with this kind of transaction? Some German sites I saw which also require that kind of payment have forms that ask for a password. Is this an EU thing only?

I'm moving to Germany from the U.S. in six weeks, and I'm looking for advice from anyone who has done something similar. This thread
has been somewhat helpful, but a little too focused on immigration issues (I don't expect a problem with this). [more inside] [more inside]

I'd like some help identifying an empty flask I found in a drawer.
It's from Germany, and bears the inscription "Herrenberger Blutwurzelansatz / Weinhaus Gläßer / Brennerei Herrenberg / Deutsches Erzeugnis
The bottle is at least 10-12 years old, and doesn't mention any overseas distributor. Could it have held an herbal wine, or a liqueur?
